Now do you have a fence that is as easily disassembled as this one is assembled? This would be a great solution for hurricane prine areas. Before a storm hits one could remove the boards and store them and then reinstall after the storm.

what would I use if I already have existing metal poles from an old chain link fence I want to use. Do you have something that can slide over them?
@frostyfrances4700Ай бұрын
Just me personally; but if I lived in a high wind area, I might devise some method of keeping the boards from resting right on top of each other. A 6' high total windbreak might be asking for trouble someday. But if there were a narrow space between each horizontal board, that could allow just enough wind through to alleviate stress.

How thick is that deck board
@slipfence4 ай бұрын
Hi, the deck board is what is called a 5/4. (five-quarter), but it is actually 1" thick. Dont buy 1x 6 fence boards as those are only 5/8" thin. The horizontal system uses 5/4 Deck boards. The vertical system uses Fence pickets. Hope that helps.

On my instructions in the box, it says to subtract 1.5" not 1.25" from the width of the gap. Wish I could find an explanation for the discrepancy.
@slipfence4 ай бұрын
Both will work but 1.5" is safer just allowing for minor pull on squareness over the years if at all. 1.25" leaves less room for any gate movement.

Any way to set up so that people can't see in at certain angles?
@slipfence4 ай бұрын
Have a look at the Slipfence Traditional too. With this system you can still build a vertical style fence but can build it completely 100% private by using 2 x 4 rails instead of the Slipfence Vertical Stingers that creat a shadowbox style fence. It still has the all aluminum posts so will stay straight and plumb. And also, once you set the Slipfence posts you can create any number of fence designs with any of the Slipfence systems. Vertical, Horizontal, Composite, Traditional etc.

If I already have wood posts , Can I use them?
@slipfence4 ай бұрын
It is not recommended to use old wood posts with the Slipfence system. The Aluminum posts are the backbone of your new fence and will stay straight true and plumb. Wood posts eventually rot and warp, bow, and crack along the way. Build it once, build it right an it will stand the test of time.

Excellent video. However, if setting this fence on concrete, as in your video, what did you use to secure the uprights to the concrete that will be strong enough to withstand wind and wear?

Hi, Slipfence has a 6 foot high plated post with pre-drilled holes for anchors. This is a surface mount post and we also supply the anchors to either anchor to concrete or wood. SF2-PP376. is the product code.

What's the best way to cut them to length after setting them, portable band saw, reciprocating saw, circular saw, angle grinder, ? ?
@TahoeProductsGroupInc10 ай бұрын
a cordless circular saw with a new non-ferrous aluminum blade is how we do it, although you have to cut one side of the post and then go to the other side of the fence and cut the other half of the post as the blade wont make it all the way through. Reciprocating saw tends to bounce all over the place and not cut straight. Grinder is the same, you will likely need to do both sides of the post so the circ saw is quicker.

Is there a purpose for the square holes on each side of the rail bracket?
@TahoeProductsGroupInc11 ай бұрын
That is an excellent question. Yes, the purpose of the holes on the sides of the bracket are so that you can screw the first fence board that is against the post into the 2 x 4 that the bracket is holding.
@TahoeProductsGroupInc11 ай бұрын
The reason we made it that size is so you can do it quickly and not be fighting to find a needle hole in the bracket.

I'm from Calgary, AB. I purchased 3 - 9ft posts and 2 - 8ft stringer kits at Home Depot. This cost me almost $800! After watching some other DIY fence videos I decided the price for a Slipfence system is ridiculous and a complete rip off. If your a millionaire then a slipfence system is not a bad idea I suppose.
@slipfence Жыл бұрын
Slipfence was not developed to be cheap. It was created primarily to last and to solve the pain in having to pull and reset warped, rotted, twisted wood posts. It is designed and manufactured in Canada, and unfortunately aluminum is much more expensive than wood. You should have kept your order and built it before commenting negatively.
