Mine didn’t last, but I used my dremmel tool to dig it out deeper, and set them in more secure. Seems to be working.

Good question. The main cost is the flagstone. I don’t remember what I paid. Maybe $800 per pallet or $800 per 1000 lbs.

Overall a solid effort but I can give you some tips. The junction box could've been on the closet side, so that was a strange decision. Now you will see it no matter what. Maybe it would have been hidden by the mirror if you had mounted it sideways though. But the bigger issue is you left a dangling stud. That needs to have a kind of "header" made, and carry that stud off to the right a bit, and down to another cross part that brings the stud back to the original spot. Think of the wall stud bumping out for a minute and then coming back in. The wires needed to be stapled to the left stud. In short, you kind of needed to remove some drywall to do this correctly and support the edges of the drywall all the way around the perimeter of the hole you made. Final tip, you can safely put 14/2 romex in instead of 12/2. Easier to work with.

Look up J Bead or vinyl L-tear strip for a better finish on your cut drywall. You could have also put the J-Box in the closet or attic if you have access. Also, you may have exceeded the box fill allowance in that J-Box.

Hey! I build driveways and do a lot of flagstone work. Seeing this I would suggest you try and avoid using those smaller pieces, if any of those are going to fail it will be them. If I was going to do this I would use big and deep pieces closer together. How you have made this is fine for a pathway but I would say its not okay for vehicle traffic. I personally wouldn't build a driveway like this, but its a fun experiment for you and maybe you will have some good luck with warm winters and light vehicle traffic! : )

Thanks for the feedback. You are correct that it's mainly meant for foot traffic and for looks. It's an extension off the side of our driveway, but won't see regular vehicle traffic. Totally an experiment.

Looks great, we use mortar but sand or "fines" is easier to work with.

Use a step up drill bit or use the smallest bit you have then swap to the next bit that is slightly bigger until you reach the desired size. Should take your hole drilling down from 10 to 2 minutes.
