I first heard Sleep Token in 2018 with their single Jaws, by accident. Their sound initially intrigued me without actually hooking me. Then in 2019 I heard The Offering which musically hooked me followed by Higher which lyrically really resonated with me. I then immediately preordered their album Sundowning. It wasn't really until I had already owned Sundowning for a while that I discovered the anonymity and lore. By then the music had already done its job of making me a fan. In fact, at the time I often wondered why Sleep Token weren't already bigger than they were! For myself and a lot of others, it's how relatable the lyrics are. There are a lot of broken people out there! PS I have been aware of the member's identities since 2020 and knowing has not affected my liking of them. Maybe because I am coming up on 60 years old, that sort of marketing, mystery and lore is not important for me. Stay safe 🤘 ✌️

I'm not sure I like this one. I can admire the technicality and musicianship, but there's nothing to groove to. The only things truly melodic in the song is the opening of the song and Tatiana's vocals. Afterwards it becomes a study in chaos. It's like Meshuggah without the underlying groove. All you got is the snare, hi-hat or bell to find the time. I mean occasionally they run into groove but they transition into a broken beat losing the groove they just created. Home was like that. Just overly complex. Vocals great, musicianship great, but too complex and inaccessible for the most part. They do this occasionally. The majority are great. But this one? 6 out of 10

The over-producing is egregious. All the bands sound the same, a polished pile of sh1te. I think a “second nirvana” is gonna come and save us from this soulless generation of metal.

Before we had Club 85 we had Regal theatre in Hitchin in the 70s and 80s and that would book huge bands of the time. Would be good if Club 85 could do that and I don’t think that was a big venue either and it had other uses.

Not my favourite Devilskin track, but a popular radio hit. They have a range of songs which cross multiple genres. Try Little Pills, Vessel or Elvis Presley Circle Pitt for some of their better metal tracks. The Halestorm link is strong.

Their lyrics are criticism, in fact metal in Indonesia is the biggest in Southeast Asia, with the Hammersonic metal event in Jakarta with an audience of 35k, and also their producer is a former Indonesian deathmetal "Deadsquad" guitarist! and where the 3 women live is Garut, close to Bandung city.. Bandung is the best metal in Asia, If we talk about religion, it is very unique there, even though 90% are Muslims, their culture is tolerant!

I really miss old Atreyu. Suicide Notes & Butterfly Kisses was amazing. Even The Curse was pretty awesome, though it was the beginning of the end for me. I've seen them 7 times, so this isn't coming as a hater. This is coming as someone who used to be a mega fan. They used to be unique, heavy & raw. Now its generic, soft & more polished. Pretty much the same feelings about Avenged Sevenfold & Trivium. These bands catch a wiff of for lack of better terms "the MTV scene" and instead of staying true to their core, try to pull in the blue hair teenie boppers. I don't mind bands that evolve. Slipknot, for example, has evolved DRASTICALLY over 25 years. Sure, I miss the raw sound of the self-titled debut, but they stayed dark, unique & a lot of it had to do with them just becoming better musicians as the years went on. Evolution is a good thing. This is not evolution. This is doing music for a career, rather than music for love of music. And it shows.

Dark Tranquillity may have slightly preceeded In Flames, but they both emerged around the same time. Mikael Stanne (vocalsist for DT) did vocals on In Flames debut album Lunar Strain, but he was never a member of IF. Mikael originally played guitar in DT, while Anders Frieden (Vocalist for IF) did vocals in DT before Mikael took over vocal duties, and Anders went to IF full time. Love the Depeche Mode shirt, one of Mikael's biggest influences. Dave knows, DT is my favourite band 😊❤ Video was illustrated by Niklas Sundin, who played guitars in DT until their album Atoma (he left after recording it, and Johan R. came in for the tour & recording Moment).

@adkrockandmetal
@adkrockandmetal 10 күн бұрын
Wouldnt say we are elitist but for some reason during that filming session we found that all the songs we checked out sounded generic and there wasnt anything to really get us excited. We did actually discuss the fact at the end of the session that if a band does alot of generic things then we complain about it but if they also try lots of new things we complain that they are trying to hard. We even acknoledged that we were particularly hard on the bands a the end of the day of filming. That should help on some future videos. We do watch and review alot of music so it does take alot for bands to blow us away or make us take notice. If we were to review alot of the classic metal bands we would be equally challenging.

This is the most mainstream song of AF last album. And it does'nt represent the 5 albums AF AT ALL. The band startet in 1996. Floor joined the band in 1997. Please listen to Equally destructive. It's s a banger with great riffs! And my favourite live recording is Dreamflight live at Progpower US 2007 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWSQkHlvpderaqssi=tSWZVd2HkOGNqOHo It's Progmetal with growls. Revamp is really metal. It's worth listening. On their second album (harder than the first) Devin Tounsend did a collab.

This song was made with a help of the pop producer Gordon Groothede ( I hope I wrote his name properly) to be radio friendly hit, so it is very poppy (and their biggest hit). Still it is a great song... Video was an idea of Nuclear blast and as the song is about energy, maybe it was meant to be energy of soil, water fire and air.

Floor needs to let her inner Rock Chick part out as do many others. This is hardly a standard After Forever track and in some ways a cash in. The collaboration with Jørn Viggo Lofstad that eventually led to NorthWard after years started shortly after and you can see that Rock Chick in While Love Dies there also.

Hi, Matt (Bass) of Far From Refuge here! The title and lyrics of Whitemane are based on a World of Warcraft Femme Fatale - Sally Whitemane. Joel is/was massively into the game. The aesthetics of the videos plus all of the filming and editing were me. The office wear and blood was the initial idea. The black and white with red was decided later on. Appreciate your praise and critiques. We wanted to include narrative elements to separate this from the Ghost of Eros single video. Jules (Drummer) came up with the video idea that fit well into the aesthetic I wanted to achieve. The video was a lot of fun yet extremely tiring to film and edit. The filming happened a week before its release on a very hot day and, because I was extremely busy, the editing had to happen across 18 hours in a single day which caused some extraordinary burn-out. Glad the final product has been received well despite the compressed schedule

What in the fuck is a whinger? Is that a made up word? Just sounds stupid. And grunge is just a media created term. People who say they love grunge don't even know Mad Season and people who say they hate grunge, well just sound like you bozos. Early Soundgarden is as classic Doom as Trouble you can fuck right the hell off if you try to argue that, that's just poser nonsense. And Dirt was as heavy and intense as any Mourful Congregation or Esoteric or whatever fad band of the moment.

Few things more amusing than watching older guys in black Ts with logos micro dissecting and over analyzing songs. And while one gentleman has made it plain he’s not impressed, the fact remains this band (any band really) has put their asses out there and are doing it while others are merely sitting around critiquing and jawing about it for clicks and ad revenue.

@@adkrockandmetal Fair enough. But it did come across as being pretty dismissive. Back in my band days, one of the first rules of professional courtesy was to never crab somebody else’s band if you were also in a band. If somebody else’s music wasn’t your thing you just let it go without comment. Times and attitudes must have changed since then.

There’s no doubt that Dany, Pau, and Ale are very attractive young women. BUT, the difference between them and many other all female groups, whether it’s rock, metal, pop, etc., is that the ladies in The Warning have the TALENT to back it up, and legitimately worked their asses off for over a decade to get to where they are today. They’re not your usual case of a record executive recruiting a few cute girls, teaching them a few simple power cords, then hiring an entire team to write their songs for them. They aren’t the female version of the Jonas Brothers. The Warning are the real deal.
