I like how you set up your flora prior to filling the tank. I have a bad habit of doing the opposite and likely end up fighting more than I need to with floating greenery

Please make sure the decor is aquarium safe! Some things start leaching into the water with time making it deadly to bettas. Also those openings might be too small for the betta to safely enter and exit the betta could get stuck and drown.

Lastly I would discourage from buying from Petco or Petsmart! They get their fish from betta mills w is super abusive and tons of them have issues and die prematurely

You're right, I should have mentioned that I made sure everything in the tank is aquarium safe and that the openings are large enough for the betta to swim through comfortably. Thanks for the heads up!

I appreciate your feedback! 😊 While 10 gallons is ideal, 5 gallons can work for a single betta with proper care and a good setup. The tank is designed to be low-maintenance and enriching for the betta! 🐟💧

Do you use co2 to grow monte carlo. ?
@OneFishTank
@OneFishTank 6 ай бұрын
For this one I use a bit of CO2 to speed up growth, but it's not essential. The key to maintaining Monte Carlo is moderate to high lighting, regular fertilization, and ensuring the light is unobstructed.

Something more like a 10 gallon is better for a betta. The more space, the happier the fish.

Exactly! While it's true that not all fish are suited for fish bowls, certain small nano fish (1 or 2) and shrimp can thrive in well-maintained small tanks with appropriate care. I personally use a fishbowl for shrimps and sometimes to hold some fry. It's all about understanding and catering to the specific needs of each species!

1890? I don’t get it?
@OneFishTank
@OneFishTank 7 ай бұрын
that was a typo! 😂 but Around 1890, the development of public aquariums was becoming more significant, influencing the broader popularity and design of home fish tanks. The late 19th century saw notable advancements in aquarium technology and public interest in ornamental fish keeping, which had been rising since the mid-19th century with the establishment of the first large public aquariums in places like London. One critical development was the improvement in glass manufacturing, which allowed for the creation of larger and more durable glass aquariums. This period also marked a shift in the focus from solely functional use of aquaria, like for studying marine biology or keeping fish as a food source, to their ornamental and educational roles. Public aquariums, which began appearing more frequently in major cities, played a significant role in popularizing aquarium keeping among the general public, turning it into a fashionable hobby for the middle and upper classes [oai_citation:1,How Did Public Aquariums Develop - DailyHistory.org](www.dailyhistory.org/How_Did_Public_Aquariums_Develop) [oai_citation:2,The History of The Aquarium and Fishkeeping](www.dreamlandsdesign.com/the-history-of-aquarium-and-fishkeeping/). For a deeper dive into the specifics of aquarium developments around 1890, you might consider exploring historical texts or detailed accounts from that period which can provide more granular insights into the innovations and cultural shifts regarding fish tanks.
