Before I had my pilots license, I used to sit at KLEB and watch the Air New England aircraft fly in and out. Later, when I was licensed, I used to fly to LEB to meet my girlfriend for lunch, then fly back to KBVY. Great memories!

honestly this video gave me some nostalgia. I used to fly only on Airtran whenever I flew, and the sound of the 717 engine is basically impossible to forget, when taking off, and sometimes even during taxiing the sound of the engine makes my entire seat vibrate

Great video! It was cool that you landed on the short 5,000 foot runway. It’s to bad these planes are retired now

You do know the main purpose of the propeller is to keep the pilot cool. If you don't believe me, watch the pilot start sweating when it stops...Old bad joke...

I love the sound that the props make! I love seeing and hearing the engines fire up. In full idle and taxiing, the props make your basic "Box Fan" sound. In takeoff and inflight, the props make a low pitched drone like the wings of a bumblebee. During the twelve years which I lived in Ithaca NY, 1991 thru Twenty O Two, I flew on various regional turboprop airliners in and out of Ithaca with what was then US Air Express, and later US Airways Express. The aircraft I flew on included the Beechcraft 1900 C and D models, and the Jetstream 31, which I considered rather primitive airliners, because they were very basic, and lacked a cabin attendant, galley and beverage service, overhead compartments, and a lavatory. I also, a couple of times flew on the Shots 360, distinctive for it's square fuselage and known as the "Flying Boxcar", and my favorite of all of those aircraft, the Dash-8 100 series. The Dash 8 cabin was most like that of a Boeing 737 or DC-9. However, yet is was still a regional turboprop airliner. Many people don't realize that a turboprop engine is a turbojet engine with a propeller attached. That's why it's called a turboprop. But many are convinced that it's a turbocharged piston engine like that of a Porsche. Unlike much of the public, I myself love the turboprops, and wish that most domestic flight airliners, 737's, DC-9's, and Airbus A-320's, used on such routes as Charlotte NC to New York LaGuardia were turboprop instead of fan jet. Though a bit slower, and can't fly much higher than 25,000 to 30,000 feet, turboprop engines burn less fuel than fan jet engines. I think that saving jet fuel would be worth 15 to 20 minutes added to the flight time. As far as inflight noise and vibration from the props goes, which many people complain about, thicker cabin insulation could be added to muffle the low pitched drone, and reduce the vibration. The quietest turboprop that I ever flew on was the ATR-42 with American Eagle in 1992. It appeared to have thicker cabin insulation. My longtime girlfriend, whom was with me on that occasion, gave the ATR-42 the nickname, "The Whisperprop".

I'll be on this flight for my 2 week bucket list trip to Japan. I love that Boston has this non-stop offering into Narita. However, i wish they would consider as MANY other US cities already have a non-stop into Haneda. I mean NY, Chicago, & Toronto just too name a few offer it. And i already understand that Haneda is Japan's domestic airport and Narita is their international hub. But please having too commute nearly 60+mins from Narita into Shinjuku where most of the hotels are is ridiculous...!!! Especially after a 13+hr flight...!!! So what's up with this Boston why aren't you offering this type of non-stop flight into Haneda...? (g)

What an idiot most likely density altitude and max weight 150 with two 180lb men and full tank of fuel is overweight. You can tell how the he is unable to get the mains off the runway until he pulls lot of elevator extremely lucky didn't stall it. I did find a NTSB report on this aircraft app.ntsb.gov/pdfgenerator/ReportGeneratorFile.ashx?EventID=20040923X01485&AKey=1&RType=HTML&IType=LA

I bet as soon as they throttled up, the takeoff configuration warning alarm went off and they knew something wasn't right so they killed the throttles, went over the checklists again, double checked everything and lined back up for takeoff.

ATC aggravated the situation, stop calling the pilot just instruct squawk 7700 then let him works the issue. He also sounded as if the issue was more of an inconvenience to him then an emergency.
