Honestly I’d say iPhone SE 1st gen is still useable in 2024. It may not be the best phone to daily drive but I’d say for a very old person this could be great. It still supports phone calls as it has 4G voLTE which the 5s doesn’t have. For young kids this phone would be perfect as games like Roblox even supports iOS 12 and it would save parents a lot of money. These are probably the type of people who don’t care about software updates but has something that just works for their needs.

a485 is a rubbish laptop, the worst one i have ever owned by far, there is a still unsolved glitch where when you unplug the laptop and replug it, the cpu down clocks to an absurd 2 ghz, this problem can only be solved by restarting the laptop with the power adapter plugged in, another one is the cpu cooler on my unit didnt mount properly to the cpu, there was a .2mm gap at minimum between the die and the chip, so it overheated, this isnt wide spread but the power adapter issue def is, the performance isnt that far off the t480s 8th gen cpu but the graphics are actually just as bad since they throttle very aggressivly even if there is thermal headroom, the cooling issue on my unit was solved by buying a thermal grizzly carbonaut pad, which took my cpu from 99c @2.1ghz and 400cb, to a much better 84c max 600cb score (both r15 benchmark) overall this machine has no reason to exist, 2nd gen ryzen mobile sucks, and the t480 is a far better buy
@JaxonTheNerdАй бұрын
I had massive issues with the laptop until I updated the firmware. And it still has obscure issues that I haven't had with an Intel laptop. But I got my a485 for a third the cost of a t480 and I can't complain for that price.

Still I had one from my uncle and using as secondary and private using with that SE 1st gen. And had a problem with that. I accidently rip off the touch ID cable when restoring to back to condition. Originally this phone is completely damaged (body panel, Display, Wifi antenna) While Repairing, I accidently rip off Touch id cable. The apple says, If you rip off and trying to transplant from another SE or 5s, you dont have the touch ID feature and only have home button feature. like iphone 5 or 5c. How can I crack the and re-Pairing the new touch ID ? I there any way or jailbreak?
@JaxonTheNerd2 ай бұрын
As far as I know, the only way to pair a new touch-ID sensor is to pay Apple to do it for you. It's same way with face ID when you replace a screen on a newer iPhone.

You can do similar on Intel based laptops (unsure the tool for Linux), but in Windows you can set the long term PL to something higher than stock, if you have better cooling you might end up throttling due to the VRMs

Family member used one until last month when it was replaced by a refurbished 12 mini. The SE1 works amazingly well for its age, ours had 3 battery replacements keeping it usable. Very little lag and stutter, apps still run good that can be installed. Miles ahead of any android of that age. My nearly brand new condition htc 10 is completely useless, literally cant play a video or open snapchat without stutter and crashing, meanwhile the SE1 still runs snapchat all good. Amazing.

Back in like 2017 I picked up a 2008 white polycarbonate Macbook for $89. It's got the 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo. I upgraded the Ram to 4GB...technically it can take 6, but the 6GB upgrade kit is around 70 bucks on OWC, so it's not really worth it. At that time I was still able to use Snow Leopard with updated browsers, but support has all but dwindled. Recently I pulled the computer out of storage and installed MX Linux... it's the only distro in which everything works (except the webcam for some reason). I had a hell of a time with the internal wifi card working on just about every distro. I was able to put in an old Kingston SSD I had lying around, and the OS seems to be responding well to a full encrypted install. To deal with the low 4GB of ram, I made a 12GB swap partition. It'll ensure if I start to hit the physical ram ceiling from web browsing, I'm covered with a huge virtual memory buffer. Most websites are actually not bad to use. Even the ones with heavy video on the homepage still run somewhat smoothly, although the fan kicks up to full blast. As for KZbin, better keep it to 360P. Despite sometimes rough video playback, it doesn't stutter, which makes it great for music playback. SuperTuxKart gives a snarky reminder message every time it's launched "Your graphics card is very old" Thanks guys, I appreciate you pointing out my old ass hardware, haahaha Overall it's not a bad machine, I think this extends it's life by at least a few more years before it's really e-waste. These Macbooks were the ones that were around when I was in college, so it's kind of nostalgic in that regard. I never owned one back in college though, as I don't buy new Apple products. But as a computer hobbyist, it's fun to tinker with older hardware all these years later. I can't wait to bring it to Starbucks and have everyone ask if Apple started making plastic computers again, lmao
