I have had two days at pony camp so far and it's day three tommorow eeeeeek. I booked a horse called Maisie (don't know if u know who she is) but today it was the hack but for some reason I couldn't ride her on the hack so I had to ride this massive, strong horse called trigger. After our hack (we didn't canter on it) my group went into the arena to canter but I couldn't ride trigger as he lesson later on and he needed a break before it so I rode MAX which our instructor rode. He was appsalutaly amazing and I understand why u love him so much. His canter is AMAZING!

Bobby is a riding school pony who has now been sold and has a new home 🥰

We currently don’t own or loan any. We loaned Blaze and Bobby for a few months, but we get to ride so many different riding school ponies. We love them all! We are on the look out for a mother/daughter share - We are quite tall, so they would need to be 14.2h or above x

It takes a lot of practice. I would suggest lots of sitting trot without stirrups, hold yourself up using your core (stomach muscles) and push deep into the saddle whilst slightly leaning back as if your pony tail is trying to touch your horses tail. Keep the contact on your reins but don’t use them to balance. Once you get stronger you can do all of that in the next pace up with stirrups. Push down on your stirrup with the ball of your feet and slightly leaning back and pushing deep into the saddle. You can hold onto the front of the saddle if you feel yourself slipping, but try to lean slightly back not forward (because it’s normal to want to cling on) It will help your pony to balance, like a scale, while he’s leaning forward your balancing him by leaning back. Keep the contact (no baggy reins) but use your arms to go with the motion of his head (but that bit comes once you get your balance) hope that helps xx

She has improved since this video. We treat this pony like royalty, he is very precious to us. You can’t learn bad habits if you are still learning how to do it properly, you sometimes have to get things wrong to put them right. She had to learn to balance herself by just doing it and when you feel unsteady it is natural to grab the rein, she has since learnt to let go of the reins and balance herself. She had to learn. We too have become hyper aware of any kind of mistreatment to these incredible animals, but unfortunately, although it is possible to learn to ride on a mechanical horse, the only way to learn to ride, is to ride an actual horse. Blaze is a riding school pony but he is our world. Her attempts at bareback riding were a game changer in learning how to balance herself. Our latest videos are all about softening the contact, which is a difficult concept for children to grasp, but she is learning the right way. I want to emphasise how much love this pony received every time she had the privilege to ride him, he was incredibly patient with her and we loved and cared for him so much during the times we had him.

@@lailasponyadventures6645 i’m glad that she is getting better with her writing skills, of course that does take time. But it also depends on how you were taught to ride from the very beginning. I was taught to ride western style, I rode bareback, but I had a western bridal with the rains in one hand and very, very light contact. The rains were loose. The horse neck rained. So I think it’s how the kids are taught from the beginning and there is a stream difference between English and western writing, at least they’re used to be. Western writers are starting to get much harder on the bit now than they used to. not giving their horse the head that they need. riding bareback with one rain will teach your kid very quickly how to ride a horse, get their balance, not use the reins for balance, etc. I started riding by myself at five years old. You can teach a kid at a young age. They will never forget it if they are top right from the beginning. And it saves a lot of wear and tear on the poor horse.

@nogames8982 We would love to try western. We made a decision to tour around riding schools because we don’t want to just be taught one way, we like to see how others approach riding. I was inspired by Monty Roberts very early on and long to learn the kindest way to ride a horse. I’d love to do biteless, bareback, I think riding free is a dream for so many. I’m hoping natural horsemanship becomes more popular as the old ways die out. I respect those with years of experience with horses, I understand they have dealt with dangerous horses and have used “quick” methods to deal with these behaviours. I’m not judging them and I’m not speaking from their kind of experience, so eyes may roll when I say that I believe patience and connection is key. When we finally get our own horse we will be prioritising these things and will always be working to improve ourselves for their sake x

Yes! I think we had a sponge that was like a second cap that went on top of the bottle 😂 We love the big Pony Days Out, we try to look out for familiar faces, but everyone looks so different without their riding helmets 🤣

@Equestrian_ciara You are so sweet. We joined our local branch when Laila had a pony on loan, but the pony went lame. We can still join as a non ridden but wouldn’t be able to take part in any of the games practises or clinics they do ☹️ We don’t have a local centre in our area sooo… We need a pony! 😂 Our house is still being renovated but… I’m definitely looking 😉xx
