Respect - love to see people how do crazy things and movies like this :) Question: what trie do you use? do you prefer a gravel trie with a small line for streets? love to speak with you in our POWERMENSCH Podcast ;)

I admit that after your first TCR video I didn't watch your stuff for a while, because I couldn't bear to see you so often torturing yourself with your non-existing sleep-strategy. But what a relief this movie brought. It was nice to see you so much happier :-)

1:18 I am a fairly good mtb rider, and I think the limit for an enjoyable bikepacking tour is 500 km riding 8-10 hours a day, not riding at night at all. Eating in restaurants, sightseeing etc. Most riders have a 40h job, so why to hurry if you are on holidays.

Hai, i'm from India, i completed 400 BRM. i think this is the coolest BRM in the world, in india we don't have seperate road for cycling, we are riding in heavy traffic.

Hmm, but my handpump is light and small enough that it fits in my saddlebag, doesn't need charging, is waterproof, will pump endlessly. I'd hate to be 70km from home with a flat and a cycplus that is dead/broken. That'd be a call of shame despite the gadget.

Sherry, I watched a video from a couple of Spanish riders who finished second in couples at Badlands and they had a "Bocadillos Strategy" :D They broght some bocadillos before the start, then, when they stopped at a bar, they ordered more bocadillos while eating the first ones. They took the new bocadillos to the next stop, and so on. This way they minimized the waiting. I founded that so fun, and inteligent :)

wow congratulations to you buzzalong girl and Danny, what a great test of effort, since you have to give 100 x 100, not sleeping has to be a great sacrifice, now you can see the great love and dedication they have for this sport , they are warriors, what a great example to follow, my best wishes in this new challenge 🍀 go for it girls, looking forward to the new video 🤩🚲🥇

Outstanding performances Sheri and Danni! (And Brad!) I first discovered Badlands videos in around '22 and have become sort of addicted to them; the physical and mental efforts involved, the beauty and ruggedness of the terrain are something I rave about to friends and I'm looking forward to a new batch to fill my need... Chapeau ladies! (And Brad!) 🎩

Ever since I learned of these races I have had mixed views about the sleep depravation as to cycle when sleep deprived must surely be as risky as driving a vehicle when sleep deprived. Is there any discussion among athletes about this? For example just as the races have control points and I assume spot trackers, could not the athletes all agree that all cyclists can cycle for only 16 or 18 hours in any given 24 hour period and perhaps submit their spot tracker to demonstrate this? If some athletes preferred not, could a race be split into two groups or categories where one category was with rest controls and the other not, in the same way some choose single-speed bikes and some multi-speed and some choose to race solo and some choose to race as a pair. As a viewer I'd guess the most extreme aspect of 'extreme' cycling is the sleep deprivation, more than extreme terrain or weather, although I assume its possible a cyclist may die of heat exhaustion or hypothermia.
@CycleXplorer3 күн бұрын
I think the risk is they races become ever more a 'who can sleep the least' event. As opposed to a bike event. Even just 4 hours sleep can make a huge difference to how you feel, ability to think and overall level of actual enjoyment. I did an event which had a time you could not leave check point 1. It forced you to rest on the first night otherwise you'd be sat about the checkpoint in the day. That worked well for me.

This cropped up around the death of ultra racing legend Mike Hall 5 or so years ago. But then the whole conversation went quiet after. So I guess it's been largely ignored.

@esskastanie20463 күн бұрын
Thank you very much for all the information and the interview. I'm really looking forward to driving myself next year. How does registration work? Do you just have to be quick enough? First come, first served? Or is there a selection process, like on other races! Thank you
@notkaty3 күн бұрын
For badlands specifically, there's an application window of around a week, then they do a random draw of all the entries and email you to say if you got in or not. But from what I understood there were thousands of applications last year and only around 300 spots.
@CyclingWithDanКүн бұрын
And probably 100 spots are already assigned to sponsored athletes and KZbinrs. Didn’t get in for 2 years in a row 😢

Greetings from Turkey. I'm happy to witness your adventure, but the pieces you chose in the Türkiye section do not belong to the Turkish region. You generally included music with melodies from the Arabian peninsula. Türkiye, is not Arabia or Arab. Please take it as constructive criticism and information. Thanks
