I remember when I was a kid and saw the earlier movie. I was so upset that they separated twins. Elizabeth James touched on it with one line in this movie and the foolish solution was kind of explained. She said "we came up with this solution so we would never have to see each other again". Parents can do foolish things at a divorce. But she was such a fantastic actress.
