Thank you for this. I have followed this story for many years. It truly pulls at your heart strings. I've been a sailor for over 40 years and Moitessier and Johnston were both right in their interviews. This endeavor is not about fame, fortune or publicity. It is about self evaluation,challenge and discovery or rediscovery depending on when and where you are in life when you decide to take on the voyage. Many people find peace in the ocean, I certainly do but I know that it is not something to be challenged or to be disrespected. You challenge yourself and gain respect for yourself. Lose your mind and your life will be right behind. I hope people go easy on Donald Crowhurst. I think there was good in this man but his demons and later his conscience got the better of him. "He who has gone unchallenged in life has no right to question the challenged".............................R.I.P...... DC
