Have you find an idea for pen cap for these pens? Or have you tried another type of pen to cover ?

my transfers are not working. Is it possible the clay has sat too long (a day) before we started with the transfer process? The clay was softened and cut but as we did not have time to immediately begin the transfer process, the pieces sat over night.
@MichelleRaeLandry12 күн бұрын
I'm sorry to hear you are having problems Rick. The clay shouldn't be an issue. It is polymer clay correct? Laser Print (Not Ink Jet)? If it is laser and it is polymer it should work. Usually the issue is the image is from an inkjet printer which won't release an image to the clay.

I am completely a newbie at this and have used hardcover books from the library's store ( 50 cents for kids'). But, I am finding that the sizes I want are that easy to find...this is BRILLIANT!!!!! I think it's time to raid the cupboard! :)
@MichelleRaeLandry12 күн бұрын
I love turning hardcover books into journals, but yes, sometimes the paper to fit them can be on the trickier side. I love boxes because you can trim them to the size you want. Hope you have fun and you will be a master of those hard cover books in no time I'm sure.

9:12 Hi, I have yet to make one that doesn't have the wobbles .
@MichelleRaeLandry12 күн бұрын
Are you referring to the binding...that is wobbly? If you are having troubles with that make sure you have someone to help you pull it tight enough. Other tip is waxed cotton thread is less stretchy and can make for tighter binding.

Thank you for making art with mushrooms. I stumbled upon this video while searching for mycology themed videos to paint to myself. As an artist I make spore prints for painting purposes and I love having other makers or foragers playing in the background. I can tell you though that as an experienced forager, I definitely always put mushrooms in my mouth 😅 Every experienced forager I know does this since it's a key identification tool. I get why you may have mentioned this as a disclaimer (but creating fear isn't quite the same as creating knowledge). I have two tips for mushroom collection for spore print creation! 1)Use a towel instead of a bowl so that moisture can escape as the mushroom print forms. This prevents saturation and warping of the paper (especially for pored mushrooms which create absolutely gorgeous prints in a dry environment). I get nice results with this method. 2) Clean your mushrooms in the field. Cut off stem bases and tap the caps free of dirt and debris where you pick them. This saves time once you've brought them home but also saves space in your basket!

Thank you so much for watching and for your knowledgeable tips! (especially the tip about the warped paper). Yes I am stressing not in the mouth for safety and liability reasons. I believe those who generally watch my channel are not mushroom foragers and I am stressing safety. Having said this I realize that experienced foragers know how to use their mouth, to help identify mushrooms - and they would not take my advice anyway. LOL I love that you use mushrooms in your art too - if you have any public accounts please share them with me. Thanks for commenting.

@MichelleRaeLandry12 күн бұрын
Do you mean sewing bindings? I have a no sew in this series but there are so many good sewing videos on KZbin I decided not to cover that. If you search beginner binding videos or pamphlet stitch binding you should be able to find one that fits your needs. If you want no sew, I have two videos for that.

I tried and tried, but the images always come out so much lighter on the clay 😢
@MichelleRaeLandry12 күн бұрын
One tip I would have is to make sure your images are high contrast, that helps. Also I feel like sometimes adding a clear top coat brings out the colors more. I have learned that not all images are suited for transfers and sometimes it's trial and era to find the ones that work the best. I use high quality digital images from Etsy or Public domain that have lots of color and saturation.

I've done junk journals with Altered books for 15yrs. First time doing them from scratch and It looks easy but it's not. Getting those signatures to match with the papers is a real struggle. Especially if your cutter is not cooperating. I struggled last night was up till 3am
@MichelleRaeLandry12 күн бұрын
Oh I'm so sorry. One suggestion I give to someone doing their first one from scratch... find 8.5 x 11 sheets of paper and fold in half. Then make a cover to fit that - a box like a cereal box works great. I know this comment was from a while ago so I hope you got through it ok.

Thank you a great video just found it. Have you ever made a spore print on fabric? I’m a fibre artist. I realize I can print fabric from a mushroom photograph but wonder if there’s a way to preserve the spore print on fabric. Thanks for the informative video.
@MichelleRaeLandry12 күн бұрын
I'm so sorry this comment is so late. I don't think spore prints would last on fabric, or at least I don't know a way to preserve them. I haven't figured out how to preserve them on paper except to photograph or scan. I hope you find an answer.
@yp8dx10 күн бұрын
@ actually, I may have found a way. I made the spore print on black fabric. I let it “dry” for a couple of weeks and then I placed wax paper on top and covered that with a warm iron. It’s been a few weeks and seems to me okay. I haven’t tried to sew it yet but plan to in the new year.
