I was just 11 days away from discharge from the Navy when this was filmed. I had spent 7 months in Treasure Island prior to 3 years abord ship out of San Diego. I was familar with that street and clothing styles.

I wish he still sung with the kind of exaggerated thing. I know everyone mocked him so that’s probably why it’s toned down and pretty much gone on the new Napalm album but goddamn pookie do it again 😭😭

I worked in Mobile, Ala., when Carlton was news director at WALA, but can't find what happened to him after that aside from some talk radio and a stint in Oklahoma City. Did he go by another name?

Very accurate transcription on the whole but I'm sure he says "the people aren't particularly interesting" at the start which is a very polite way of saying that the party guests bored him senseless. He also says "although it didn't seem so at the time" in reference to his drinking. I think he ends with "that is surely the essence of the whole matter" but not sure about that one.

Thanks for posting the video of, "Carlton Cordell", (not his given name), he would have appreciated that you did. Out of curiosity, how did you get to know him as you got older, I'm assuming through either your Mother of Father.

Carlton Cordell was my uncle (by marriage to Toni (Mondot) Cordell). KTVU just did a Second Look @ the explosion @ Port Chicago which Carl also covered. My aunt still misses him, terribly. Thanks very much for posting this.

Oh *thank ewe so much for commenting!* Any clips i can get i will upload and hopefully will have enough for a Carlton Cordell playlist If the station complains and requests that i remove the clips, i think i could make them private (just for your family) Bless You All~~~

Correction: He covered the closing of the town of Port Chicago after the Navy took over in 1968 (I think). I don't believe he was there for the explosion that occurred during WWII.
@GGiblet10 жыл бұрын
Summer inNapa he probably would have been too young for the explosion but i will look for the later one...about once a month i look for uploads (i am currently on restriction due to a copyright violation :/ but that will be lifted soon)

The best I've found is from the KTVU archive. Carl looks at trends in men's fashion. It shows the most Carl. I just wish it were in color.

Why was this not on the album?
@GGiblet11 жыл бұрын
my understanding is that there were 2 albums: a regular album, and a 'special edition' with the 2 bonus tracks sold only at certain stores (but i'm no expert---my sister is a big fan, is why i put these up)
@sean95m11 жыл бұрын
I know and thank you. I should have been more specific. I meant it is such a great song it should have not been a bonus track.
@GGiblet11 жыл бұрын
well i don't think the album would be overcrowded or anything, i mean it's likely a marketing tactic record companies often have various editions of the same basic album with this or that added (a song, a dvd, a poster) it boosts sales and some people collect them but it's bad in a way because quality music gets lost in the shuffle (just my opinion)
@sean95m11 жыл бұрын
I can agree with that.
