My late husband had this cancer. They Mayo clinic found a protocol from somewhere on the other side of the world. It was a Lavage treatment. They poured the chemo into his abdomen. Look up on National Library of Medicine "Clinical significance of initial treatment for peritoneal lavage cytology-positive gastric cancer: outcomes according to treatment strategy" or contact the Mayo Clinic and ask what treatment John Chapman had in AZ for this cancer. It gave him 10 more years of life. Best of luck to all. Cancer is rough.

Isn’t it true that both LAMN & HAMN are local disease without lymph node involvement and be treated by loco-regional therapy (adequate surgery) alone.

Hello. Thank you for your interest and support. We have covered PIPAC in some of our prior programs and plan to do so again in this year's 2024 Multi-Regional Symposium scheduled for Nov 1. Stay tuned!

I have a question for the doctor, My appendix ruptured and the doctors. Just put a drain in about ten days later to clean it out. They never operated yet, they were just draining all the buildup. I got operated on three months later september eighteenth that just passed. They sent that appendix off for testing and it came back with goblet's cell carcinoma. And then a month later they went and did anothey're dry and took out some tissues and some Lymph nodes. And now they want me to do chemotherapy. They say the cancer is stage two type three. Now I'm i'm dumb on this topic. But since they cleaned up all the tissue and lymph nodes and there was nothing there. But they found traces of cancer in the lymph node connectors what happens now? Do I have to do chemo?

Hey there, thanks for your question. We are a non-profit advocacy organization and are not staffed with clinicians, so we are unable to provide medical advice. We recommend asking your Healthcare team and also getting at least one other opinion from a doctor experienced in treating Appendix Cancer. You can use our Find a Specialist Tool to find someone near you: acpmp.org/patients/find-a-specialist/

I found out December 23rd, 2023 that I have stage 4 appendix cancer . I do chemotherapy every other week supposedly the rest of my life . I’m going to St. Louis this Wednesday August 21, 2024 to talk to a specialist about the hot chemo wash . I might be too old for it, I’m 71 years old . We’ll see ?!

For patients with extensive intra peritoneal disease ( high PCI score) where complete cyto reduction is not possible, PIPAC ( pressurized aerosol intra-peritoneal Chemo ) is reasonable option and can be repeated post-op.

My uncle was set for a clinical trial with Bromac, I believe in the summer but now pushed back to I believe this winter. However Im wondering about the recent breakthroughs in CART-cell therapy and their applicability to a broad range of cancers, and whether or not Wake Forest has the ability/facilities to administer that sort of treatment? Thanks 🙏🏽
@pmprf2 жыл бұрын
Hi Musashi, unfortunately, we have all been waiting for the BroMac trial to come over the US for about 2 years now... I would reach out to Sarah Valle, RN to see if there is a recently updated timeline for the trial -- Email: [email protected] and phone #: (+612) 9113 2070. In the meantime, I would highly encourage you and your uncle to consider looking into other clinical trial options. ACPMP's Executive Director, Deborah Shelton, works with patients to help them figure out if there are any trials that would be worth pursuing. You can reach out to her directly at [email protected] and see a list of current trials at acpmp.org/patients/clinical-trials/. There are lots of tumor agnostic trials based on genetic mutations that Deborah is following, so if she has the genetic testing results, she may be able to identify something worth checking out! Also consider reaching out to Dr. Raoof at City of Hope to learn more about the PIPAC trial happening there (available in California, New York, Florida and some locations in Europe) as it is available to appendix cancer patients: clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04329494. Link to the webinar with Dr. Raoof presenting about this trial: acpmp.org/webinars/. You would need to reach out to Wake Forest about your question above.

Professor Morris (or as we called him for 2 years "Prof") tried everything he could for my mum, being limited only by covid border restrictions. His surgeries and more importantly moral support to my mum, gave her an extra year of life. Prof is amazing and has had such a positive impact on my family. Thank you for the prognosis table. As patients, some of us want our doctors to be more forward with prognosis. It's understandable when being told, " enjoy your life"...."look at it as a chronic illness". At the end of the day, it's cancer. Some would like to know prognosis in order to live their best life.

My brother was just diagnosed with Appendix cancer. He is being seeing at Cape Fear cancer center in Fayetteville NC. He just had his port put in and his first chemo treatment will be Tuesday. He has NO insurance and I'm so scared for him as to the quality of care he will get without insurance, he doesn't qualify for emergency medicaid either, so far just trying for financial assistance. I want him to have hipec if he is a candidate, but how could it be funded for him? He is all alone in NC, not married. I'm worried about travel back and forth for treatment. Is there hope? Tyia

Is there anything diet related that can cause it to advance more quickly? Anything that can slow it down? I have had the hipec and cyto reduction done and then had to be reopened for a radical hysterectomy later because they did not check my uterus the first time. Thank you for this information
@pmprf3 жыл бұрын
There is currently no known cause for appendix cancer/PMP, therefore there are directly no known linked reasons related to recurrence. Recurrence rates can be based upon a patient's tumor type, success of their CRS/HIPEC surgery, and other factors. However, we do encourage you to watch this video which you may find helpful regarding nutrition: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ep3Ylap5m9eCpcU. We also recommend reaching out to your specialist's care team to discuss any of this in more detail!

@@pmprf I have this disease. I have a question. When u have a mucin producing tumor what is actually growing that kills you? The tumor itself is growing, or does the volume of mucin kill you? How does the rate of growth of the actual tumor compare to the rate in mucin accumulation. From my understanding not all mucin is cancerous, it depends case by case. I have had this for 15 years, appendicectomy was done in 2009. Found out i have pmp in 2020. So 11 years had no idea. Now watch and wait as its growing extremely slowly.,

Does pseudomyxoma peritonei is curable??
@CHNL.s3 жыл бұрын
if they remove all the mucin and cancer and do HIpecc many people have no existing disease for years. ive seen 20 years and no reoccurence. Most important thing is to SEE AN APPENDIX cancer specialist. This is not like other cancers it acts very differently and usually doesnt spread out of the abdomen area into the blood.
