Totally get where you’re coming from! Metro actually does an impressive job balancing atmosphere with action, building tension in those quiet moments before things kick off. It’s not about just mindless action but really getting immersed in the world. Sometimes the slower pace is what makes those intense moments hit even harder-it’s all part of the experience. Maybe just takes a bit of patience to appreciate the buildup!

In VR, like in traditional gaming, there’s a huge range of playstyles. While some games focus on atmospheric pacing and exploration, others are incredibly fast-paced and allow for a lot of mobility-think games with parkour mechanics or active combat, where you’re moving constantly. It’s true that not all VR titles take advantage of the platform’s potential for immersive freedom, but that’s more about the game’s design than VR as a whole. If you’re looking for faster gameplay and smoother navigation, there are definitely VR games that prioritize those aspects. It’s similar to flat-screen games; some are open-world and action-packed, while others are slower-paced, emphasizing puzzles or exploration. If you’re open to trying more VR games, you might find ones that are perfectly aligned with what you’re looking for. And who knows-you might find that a new title changes your whole perspective on VR gaming! 😊

@@DiirectorM Thanks for your thoughtful response. I think there's a lot you can do in pure pacing to significantly improve the experience. For instance forcing the player to stand still waiting for minutes of dialogue to finish until the NPC opens the route to proceed to the next room could've easily been handled by having the character accompany through the location you while talking so you are engaged further in the game while listening to exposition. It's not so much about expecting this to be "fast paced", it's more about making the player feel engaged all the time. If i'm forced to stand still at a doorway doing nothing just to wait for the NPC to finish, it takes me out of the game. I also don't like getting stuck in rooms without a clear clue what to do next just trying to navigate around a maze. In flat screen games you can more easily quickly sprint through spaces, but in VR it's very easy to get disoriented even with significant experience with VR titles. I'm one of the early adopters of VR so this is not my first ride :)
