I was very fortunate enough to ride on a Mercedes bus still in revenue service at the time of my 2006 visit to Sydney. The Mercedes Benz buses will still be my favourite buses

For us here in the United States this is the same propulsion system as New York City R211. This design with a 2nd cab Guard compartment can replace a R68

Actually, the R211 propulsion is different. It uses very similar propulsions, but the R211 has a different sound when accelerating/decelerating. Good catch though.
