That's probably exactly how bad my copy sounded. Played that thing to death around 1981. The amazingly brilliant thing about Mono records, especially when they get staticy, they start to sound stereo. Thanks for sharing

Fabulous stuff - love the vocal harmonisation, the gorgeous arrangement, the brilliant song. We had this when I was a kid in the late 1960s and it still sounds as good today.

Great recording & tune. It should've been a much bigger hit. I like it a lot more than "Movin".

must have been played a lot. I was born in 1946 so probably heard it in ‘50’s and later. wish there were more oldies.

There is an element of daring in this song. Just think. The lady was wearing a yellow ribbon for her lover, who is far, far away. But wait. Was the lady wearing anything else besides the ribbon ?

In 1949 Director John ford made an Production office film with Marion Cooper called She wore a yellow ribbon starting John Wayne , Joanna Dru , John agar , Ben Johnson , and Harry Carey Jr. The film is for Fords Calvary trigory and is Calvary trig No. 2 and all started John Wayne. And it was a hit for RKO motion pictures.
