My HD28 is a 2002. It has been my work-horse. I've done a lot of gigs/recordings with it. I'll just share a little of my realizations with it. #1, So glad I got no electronics on it from the factory. My guitar can remain origonal with aftermarket electronics. #2, I recently discovered that the HD28 was a return to origonal D28 specs in the WWII era I think; the x-bracing thing. The bass response.

Ironically, I have a 1988 blonde US made Strat with Texas Specials installed and I also have the exact color PRS CD24 you have so this was wild for me to see. Both are great guitars but I’m biased towards the J-45

I also have both. It comes down to what I love at the moment. It’s different day to day.

For my personal taste and playing style, the second sound clip, with the capo and drop tuning, the Martin sounded the best.

I just got a 2019 semi hollow CE 24 in dark cherry burst. My buddies with custom 24s bust my chops but come on the quality is the exact same haha. I do wish it had the 5 way like the custom24 does but just more motivation to save up for a custom too 😂

J-45 wins here it’s close though. You just can’t beat that clarity of the 45.

Much better punch on the J45, more unique character. HD28 sounds generic and uninspiring.
