I made that one out of mild steel, my next ones I’ll be making out of spring steel so they hold up a bit better on bigger stock

It moves the pins! I’m not the lock picking lawyer so I didn’t get that dead bolt picked but they work great!

I take it you’re fairly new to this. Take off the glove on your hammer hand. The hammer is too heavy for repeated forging. I see tendinitis in your future. Yes I know of what I speak. I have been a full time smith for 30 years. That is a forging smith not a welder.

Thanks for the advise! Yes I am fairly new at this. Just started in September. Got a power hammer build in my mind for the future, just using that 5lb for the initial drawing out then switching to my 3.5lb that’s a lot nicer to swing. Would you still use the smaller hammer to move this bigger metal?

The horizontal holes are from when it was hand forged I believe, to help hold it
