The redstripe studio pro has this lead channel basically. Im not a fan of the ultra channel, i like to add gain through the lead then add a overdrive

Seems like a good little guitar for sure. Sounds a little quacky , must have a piezo , but also the pin-less bridge I’m certain is a tone killer

Hi Cliff, youtube suggested your video to me, if I could help out a bit on the history, you got it mostly right. The 1952 has, as you said a maple top and to p-90's, but it also had the trapeze tail piece with the bar bridge. The neck angle was to flat and it made the guitar very hard to play, as you had to run the strings under that bridge to get it to play at all. mid 53 they changed the neck angle and switched to a stop bar bridge, like the special. It was 1957 when they switched to the Seth Lover humbuckers, they also went to an all mahogany body, but by 58, they went back to the maple cap and started the now famous burst tops. The Les Paul Customs (Black beauties) were always an all mahogany body, in the 1950 that is. I hope this helps. I would like to add, you made a very good video, well filmed and presented, and I agree that the special is a fine guitar for a beginner. I look forward to your next video.

Thank you so much! I was going off a list that showed offerings by year but I do recognize that there were a ton of changes during that period. I’ll try to dig in a little deeper next time. I appreciate you taking the time to clarify!

These when they were new were only about $400 and sometimes would go on sale for significantly less, the same is true of the other from this model line which was the Supreme. They rose to around the price you found but were introduced at about half that for the first few years. I kept missing the sales and ended up buying a Crate GLX for $100 w/free shipping and have no regrets, but there were S.S. heads I wanted more and this was #1 with the Warhead being 2nd. The Warheads were sometimes on sale for $200. Around the same time, the B-52 all tube head came out and were maybe $400 but being the new kid on the block and looking quite goofy, it took a couple years until they really took off, and with that, the prices started doubling. Currently, all gear prices are just ridiculously out of hand. American strats are a couple thousand bucks when 15-20 years ago, you could buy one for around $650. Tube amps have always been up there, but now they're rarely under $1500 and many have gone up to $3,000, sometimes more. The Carvin V3 was still going for about $650 new, American made and just a few years ago, but they went under, spend about 2 years selling out the remainder of their amps in stock, and are unfortunately yet another lost brand to inflation and the Chinese market. My positions is as an electrical/electronics engineer I have a good estimation for actual mfr. costs right down to packaging and getting it on a shelf. With that said, $400 is a good price, but for the age and technology, I wouldn't go above $200, and they are around often enough for that price, just not constantly. As it is, some gear I own and bought new for $99 or $200 is now sold for 2-3x that on average.

I own both models and I still watched your whole review, thanks for being so thorough! I loved my MajorIII and wore them until the plastic black flakes were in my ears every time I used them. I'm happy with the 'upgrade' as well. I also have the first model of airpods and I don't even compare them, in my mind airpods vs overear headphones are for different situations. I really like your style of reviewing though, thank you!

I've been using Major III since 2021, and as of February 2024, they can't be charged. It's been with me every single day! The biggest plus is that it never dies out, and the sound quality is just absolutely satisfying. After its initial death of my headphone, without any hesitation, I ordered Major IV. If anyone is hesitant about buying these, well, you shouldn't! Best in the market, seriously!

When they can't be charged can you still use them by plugging? Does it still work?

A few days ago I've buyed original (there a lot of fake of this headphones exists) Marshall Major III brown wired on aftermarket for $20, it was in good condition. I wasn't expecting them to sound good, because I've used a lot of cHi-Fi iems (7Hz Salnotes Zero, Moondrop Chu, KBear KS2, KZ EDX Pro and AKG K240 Stidio), they're sounds gorgeous, but the sound of Marshalls... It's not flawless, but it's very individual and aggressive, exactly what I love in music. Main flaws is VERY heavy pressing headband, peeling leatherette and in some places unreliable engineering solutions (btw, this is fixed by 3D printed parts). Otherwise, they are perfect, and their appearance is unrealistically gorgeous.

Bought OEM Version of II and III and I’d say that II is better because it’s more flat than III. If you’re a DJ like me or more into flat sound I’d recommend II because III and perhaps IV got boosted on bass & highs which is good for rock sounds but bad for monitoring / DJ music with lots of bass & high frequencies.

Great review but you seem to have missed a very important detail. The build quality of these things is cheap as 🦆. Not even five minutes out of the box and the frame is already warped because the cheap metal wire on the inside came loose from the cheap plastic clip. The vinyl looks like it could rip at any moment. I have zero confidence wearing these. Give me a v moda any day.

Good review, thank you. I have the same guitar. Very good build quality as you describe. I agree on the sound quality/clarity, and surprised the volume isn’t as great as some others. Especially considering the light finish. But for $500, the unplugged volume was similar to a larger body Epiphone Masterbuilt. At least that is my experience. Thank you for your video and review
