HI! I'm trying to make a name filet. Do you have any tutorials on those?
@CrochetCabana
@CrochetCabana 7 жыл бұрын
I don't specifically have a "name" tutorial but it would be made the same way. You just need a chart of alphabets. I do have such a chart that I use when I do my own name afghans. It is just block letters. You can also find alphabet charts online if you prefer something fancier. Yarnyokel has charts for specific names. Send me an email if you'd like to discuss further. I am not left handed but there are several good tutorials on crocheting left handed. Check out CGOA, The Crochet Crowd, Naztazia and others. Just search youtube for left hand or left handed crochet.

I notice on The Crochet Crowd's video about 20 minutes in he turns. How to Crochet for Beginners: Left Handed. In Naztazia's video Learn How to Crochet LEFT HAND - Part 1 - Beginner Basics Chain, Single Crochet, CH, SC LH, she turns her work about 3:45 in. Hope that helps. The method seems to me very similar as in right handed. You just have to make sure your work and hook are in proper position.

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! I have been searching for a new style to crochet and after 2 weeks I came across this video that I could TOTALLY follow and understand! She took her time SLOWLY showing o how to crochet each stitch. It helped me so much, as the only way I knew was granny square. So again THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! I've saved this site so I can go and learn more as time goes on!

Hi! I saw a comment by you at Google+ but couldn't figure out for the life of me how to respond to it. You asked how to undo the extra stitches. What I do is use a needle and carefully undo the stitch, then pulling it closed. Not sure how to explain it in words. Do not cut close to the stitch. If you have a really long tail you could cut and leave about 6" or so to weave in so it doesn't come apart later.

is there a reason for sharing a double crochet post? is it possible to just do three dc for one block and then an open block? or will the picture not work? am dyslexic and am determined to do one of these, haha
@CrochetCabana
@CrochetCabana 7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I understand the question. You can do a solid block and then an open block if that is what your pattern calls for. You can also use a 4dc mesh but I can't guarantee your picture will look the same if the design is written for a 3dc mesh. I'm sorry for the delay in answering. I'm just now seeing your post.

can one make a foundation row large enough for a baby blanket, like 101, 201 stitches and get the same effect?
@CrochetCabana
@CrochetCabana 8 жыл бұрын
Sure. I used 19 stitches for my strip. If you wanted it exactly as I worked it you'd need to make sure you have 19 stitches across for each spider you wanted to do. Don't forget your turning chain.

That's good news. However, let me just caution that this is not the bullion stitch itself but what I call a bullioin block. If your pattern calls for the bullion stitch this might or might not work.

can you use a cross stitch pattern from the cross stitch magazine? And how do you measure how big the Afghan needs to be to use the pattern?
@CrochetCabana
@CrochetCabana 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use any cross stitch pattern. For your project you need to know how many stitches you need for your cross-stitch design. Any width or length that accommodates that many stitches should work.

Are you asking if you can use this stitch as a border or do you want to make a border on a bullion block stitch afghan you've just completed?
@edwinab3123
@edwinab3123 8 жыл бұрын
I have actually made granny squares but each square is made up of bullion stitches - i have made 24 different squares and I thought that the bullion block stitch around the blanket as a border would be really nice. I am just worried about the corners
@CrochetCabana
@CrochetCabana 8 жыл бұрын
Hmm I'm sorry to say I don't know the answer to that. Maybe you could use one of the squares and try to bullion block around it and see how it works in the corners. You wouldn't even have to do the whole square. Just a side, corner, side. I'm curious so if you do try it, please let me know how it works out.

how many chain would i need to make this blanket for a single bed ?
@CrochetCabana
@CrochetCabana 8 жыл бұрын
In looking back at other Jacob's Ladder afghans I made, it looks like I chained 212 using an I hook and the 10 dc, 10 ch, 10 dc sequence. The finished ghans were between 40-45" wide which would probably do for a twin bed. There are 10 ladder (cable) sections and 11 dc sections. Then continue until it is the length you need. Hope that helps.

@CrochetCabana
@CrochetCabana 8 жыл бұрын
To eliminate the gaps, you would use a decrease for the valley. I demonstrate this in The Ripple Part 2. You do have to adjust the foundation chain because it takes three stitches for the decrease and two for the skip in this video.

CrochetCabana aIf you are working with with multiple sets, you have to figure that out by counting the multiples out as you go. For example, say I want a 70″ wide afghan and I have multiples of 9 + 2. I could from 1 - 9 as I chain over and over and over. Once I get to the length I need, I just add 2 at the end. This way, I can ensure my multiple count will be right without worry of a calculator. Blanket Sizes I have given approximates saying ‘square’ to give an idea. You can use the information to make rectangular afghans but the minimum width recommendation is given below. Kid Sizes Receiving Blanket - Usually Square starting at 24″ to 36″ Small Cradle - 15″ x 30″ Large Cradle - 18″ x 33″ Baby Blankets Typically Range - Minimum 24″ - 30″ width Toddler Afghans - Minimum Range from 30″ - 36″ width Young Child - Minimum Range from 42″ - 48″ width Teenagers - Minimum 48″ - 60″ width Other Afghans For Decor Throw Afghans - 60″ width - 48″ to 60″ length Lapghan - 36″ width - 48″ to accommodate wheel chair or regular sitting positions on chairs. Mattress Top Sizes without Drape Small Cradle - 15″ x 30″ Large Cradle - 18″ x 33″ Crib Blanket - 28″ x 52″ Twin - 39″ x 75″ Full / Double - 54″ x 75″ Queen - 60″ x 80″ King - 76″ x 80″ California King - 72″ x 84″ Mattress Sizes with Drape Over Sides Crib - 36″ x 54″ Twin - 69″ x 90″ Full / Double - 84″ x 90″ Queen - 90″ x 95″ King - 106″ x 95″ California King - 102″ x 99″ Typical Afghan and Bed Sizes Patterns & Articles related to Typical Afghan and Bed Sizes How to Single Crochet A Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Single Crochet A Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Double Crochet A Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Double Crochet A Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Half Double Crochet A Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Half Double Crochet A Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Crochet Bead Stitch Wave + Tutorial How to Crochet Bead Stitch Wave + Tutorial How to Crochet Herringbone Stitch Wave + Tutorial How to Crochet Herringbone Stitch Wave + Tutorial How to Crochet a Criss Cross Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Crochet a Criss Cross Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Crochet Bobble Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Crochet Bobble Wave Afghan + Tutorial How to Crochet Modified Front Post Wave + Tutorial How to Crochet Modified Front Post Wave + Tutorial Rectangle Granny Afghans: All Sizes Rectangle Granny Afghans: All Sizes Entrelac & Rectangular Afghans Entrelac & Rectangular Afghans
