Howdy , You Do such an awesome job .. with your Decor /Diorama and your filming with clips of certain spots your layout .. It looks so real... Not sure if I mentioned it is difficult picking a direction to go with idea's for scenery etc.. Thanks for sharing

Thank you for your comment. The slot cars 1/64 scale are in foreground helps. The background even though 1/87 scale, looks further away (forced perspective). I also resize frames in video to cut out ceiling and lights, etc. and giant people. I think it helps realism appearance.

Your trains and scenery are nice enough, it would be awesome ( and you'd be one of the first) to make scale roads, with the conductors molded into the roads/ sale, not the sectional plastic car tracks... I saw a guy who did this in the 70s in HO scakle- he had a " perimeter" layout , that was 30" deep, and took up an area of a room that was 16x40...I think he used modified drywall, and somehow cut sl;ots in it, crammed conductor strips into the drywall, and painted it.. It was awesome looking, even for a 70s creation.. Carl Grubbs, from West Field center, Ohio created it.. he had over 200 locomotives, a yard with 400 cars , and his son was in charge of the HO cars, which I'd bet he had a hundred cars, and a dozen home made semi trucks and such..In the 70s, we HAD to make our own stuff....

Thank you for your comment. Yes, I have wondered about this. They do make continuous track now, but quite expensive, and have seen other examples of routed wood grooves with copper strip rails embedded and wider lanes and shoulders. Also new digital chip HO ideas, and possible, groove only with battery power. Technology may change soon, I wait to see what they come up with.

Wow! So cool! I just found your channel and subscribed. I enjoy the slot cars running around the layout. They add a great visual dimension to the overall aspect of the operation. I've always loved slot cars and had a number of sets, when I was growing up and I've added to them, over the years. I wanted to integrate slot cars into my layout, but It is hard to find 1/48 scale slots. I got a couple cars, that were included in a 1/32 set that I picked up, but not the track. I just cleaned out my slot car room, after I had a bunch of stuff stored inside. I have some of my Revell, Eldon, Aurora and Motorific tracks set-up and running, although the Revell is tough to put together tightly, since it is almost 60 years old and the tabs are a bit brittle. I probably could have used some silicone on the tabs, but I didn't think about it. I show them at the end of my last video, Minor Foam Delay, on my Chooch's Trains channel. They need some 'tweaking', before I can include them while running, in my videos. Either way, you have a fantastic layout. An excellent video, for sure.

Thanks for your comment. I would think Lionel O gauge 1:43 and Carrera slot cars that are 1:43 are a match. HO trains are 1:87 and so-called HO lot cars are usually 1:64
@johnandrus3901Ай бұрын
@@lakesuperiorvideos It would be cool to find slot cars that fit into my post-war through late fifties-early sixties theme. The small, probably 1/43 cars that were added to the 1/32 set that I bought, were modern Trans Am's, so they wouldn't fit into the era that I run, but maybe no one would actually notice. 1/64 is basically S scale, but it might work.

Definitely one of the cooler toys I had growing up. Never had anything close to this level of detail but the basic customizable tracks with the cars that would flyoff and wipe out if you drove too fast. Huge fun factor

love the video of the train!! great photography love the slot cars too.. but the two don't go together because the scales are too different... but still entertaining!!
@roadsscholar40124 ай бұрын
This is the way it is in HO. The cars would be better suited to S scale, but my eyes have no problem making it work.

Actually many years ago we had all 1/64 die cast all over and the slot cars (can be seen in our oldest videos). At least we replaced the die cast with real 1/87.
@lakesuperiorvideos4 ай бұрын
I think I read original 1960s aurora model motoring slot cars were closer to 1/87 scale and that was how "HO" slot cars started?
@roadsscholar40124 ай бұрын
