The main thing that I remember from the original Press Your Luck game show is the guy who basically outsmarted the game itself. That has to go down in history as the most unusual circumstance to ever occur on TV.

Peter Tomarken was the perfect guy to host the show. A true gentleman, philanthropic by flying cancer patients to their treatments aboard his private plane (which unfortunately we all know happened, and they said if he wore his seatbelt he would have lived), a wonderful Father who brought his twin daughters out for the Christmas 1985 episode and they were a part of the intro, and he was a goofball. When Robert lost $30,518 on that last crummy spin, he pretended that he fainted, got a call from the late Mel Blanc, walked up to the board for a cloth, the crazy Halloween dance shrieking on Halloween, and who else can pull off hosting an episode in your pajamas and bathrobe? Fact: He did host Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck for pilot test episodes before they brought Newton in.
