Yo era un adolescente cuando conocí a Mario Lanza interpretando una película llamada "Arrivederci Roma", allá por el año 1958, su poderosa y melodiosa voz me impactó tanto, que mi primer LP que compré en mi basta discoteca fue el de Mario Lanza. Tristemente él falleció siendo muy joven, 38 años, la música lírica perdió al más grande de todos los tiempos hasta que surgió Luciano Pavarotti. Mario Lanza es y será mi ídolo por siempre.

I went to an open house for a mobile home in San Pedro and on the walls were all of Mario Lanza’s gold records. The mobile home belonged to his son Damon. I was thrilled to chat with him for a few minutes and he let me know that his dad died when he was really young and that he didn’t know him very well, but did have the gold records.
