Did you just say to burn off on high for 40 minutes??? My Monument grill manual states 3-5 at high temp. In my case 700 degrees.

DON'T BUY THE MEATER!!! CONNECTIVITY is next to impossible to maintain. And God forbid you need customer service! They only have an online chat and it is PAINFULLY SLOW to get anything to happen. 5 minutes between responses. No phone number to call. Bottom line: This company needs to go out of business yesterday.

Actually Lodge doesn’t manufacture these griddles, they simply market them under their brand name .. These same reversible cast iron griddles are manufactures by factories in China and sold to different brands as requested.. I have the exact same griddle except mine is marketed and sold in North America by the Lagostina brand.. I’ve had mine for about 8 years now and it still works great 👌 The trick is to keep it seasoned , oiled and clean and you’ll never see rust 😊

I got a little weber gas grill from my parents as a christmas present the first year of my marriage. It still works at 100% and my husband and I are celebrating 10 years this fall. The only thing I've done to it is to get the hose attachment so I can hook it up to a larger propane tank instead of using the little 1 pounders that never seem to last long. Never had a grease fire with it either and I use it quite a lot. Maybe people are having grease fires with gas grills because of improper cleaning? I know a lot of people who swear by their charcoal grills but the lighter fluid and/or something in the charcoal itself actually makes me physically sick every single time I eat something from a charcoal grill, so I'm really not a fan.

I just received the Combustion Inc Probe Plus display and to be honest I'm very disappointed. I’m not disappointed in the operation as I have yet to actually use it. It appears to be a DOA or firmware related issue on the probe. When I first received the probe and display, connection to the app and display all worked very easily. They have a very good tutorial on how to setup and operate. The Software went through and started a firmware update on each device independently. The display showed that it was updating and looks like it all worked well. The Probe froze in the updating process and now does not connect to anything. All directions were followed very thoroughly ensuring everything was fully charged and no disturbances during connectivity process. The Customer support is extremely lacking to say the least. They will send you a "Survey" that guides you through troubleshooting steps and I'm currently at the point where they admit possibility of firmware freezes. Next step has me waiting 48hrs+ for the probe to essentially drain completely and reset the firmware. (Mid-June 2024) the technology from what I can tell has not changed in the last year or 2 from what details I could find. A lot of people swear by the probe and my personal experience is just not that. If you happen to get the combustion and are one of the lucky ones to get it working right out of the package then your claims might be justifiable for your case, and I'm merely stating my own experience. Spending $200+ for a probe to arrive not functioning and then being told I need to wait 48Hrs+ is ridiculous. Go Cheaper and go Wi-Fi is my thinking. I'm working on a return now as I don't have the patience to wait for 48Hrs+ to see if it might work or not. Next try will be the Meater 2 Plus.

If you have accidentally heated your stainless steel “beyond the fond,” and end up with burned on residue - simmer water and baking soda in your covered pan for awhile. This might take an hour or longer. The burnt residue will be easy to remove. I’ve salvaged a few pots and pans this way. Thanks for your helpful tips, I love my stainless steel pans as much as I do my cast iron and carbon steel. They each have their specific uses.

Charcoal adds ALL kinds of Carcinogenic gasses etc into your food ...True. Gas grill fires are due to pure SLOTH... Clean the darned thing.... every 3rd or 4th use ... Sparse SS wire grills are only there to save the MFG $. As for longevity Been Using My vermont castings (made in canada) since 2000.. Approx 4 times a week.. year round ! With no end in sight. I like white walk with talk said on his videos. Preheat your pan do the water test which I like to do to know that your pan is hot. Put the oil in. Let it bring up to a light smoke it off the heat for a few minutes, so it quit smoking, then put it on a low heat to start with and test your food and once you get your food in there, it should never stick, his spot seasoning method the about it is butter has a lower smoke point then say peanut oil so you’re literally making your oil stick to the pan first and slightly burning it in and then cooking on a lower heat slightly so that nothing sticks then just wash with soap scrub whatever or deglaze your pan to clean and if I cook a protein tin to over heat or cook or star or whatever if I do the spot seasoning method it’ll wash off pretty good but then there’s always this buildup so I have a spray bottle of white vinegar and I’ll spray on it. Rub my little sponge on it for about let it sit for about 30 seconds and just kinda wipe it off and it just melts it off, I have to scrub a pan if I literally let the fondant buildup and I turn my heat up and burn the food into the pan. But basically you’re right on right on loved your video.

I think when you fully season a pan and let it completely cool. One you’re not supposed to use soap on it. And I think it works better to preheat your pan slow and cook on low heat which makes it more nonstick and of course add a little oil, if you preheat your pan, I think it will burn the seasoning and it’ll flake off. I think carbon steel and iron skillets are so porous that if it flakes off, it’s still got a lot of oil trapped in the pan compared to maybe a stainless steel. I have more and I will put on another comment right after this.

Well if it impresses someone with your bbq grill experiences, there's a strong likelihood it'll exceed my noob expectations and beyond. As far as any software app kinks, are they good about listening to feedback and addressing issues with fixes and updates in a timely way? I like innovative products, but I was a bit gun-shy to pull the trigger on this product this morning after a Garmin Dashcam mini 2 is not working with it's companion app with no fix in sight. I can't even get past setup. Might be the last time I buy an app reliant piece of hardware for a while if this doesn't work out. Which it will. Positive Mental Attitude! Anyway, thanks to your analysis, I feel confident that my bbq grilling game can only improve with this product. Understatement. I'm pretty excited about that. Each sound great but Typhur Sync is over double the price of Meater 2 plus (in the U.K. at least) Combustion Ink isn't readily available in the UK. I have a spare smartphone, so hopefully that'll help me attain a solid range, together with a well positioned range extender. I take onboard the pros and the more unacceptable cons that people cite, but for me, the way I see it is if meater 2 plus is deemed one of only 3 competitors worthy of comparison, well put it this way...this time last year I was cooking on a disposable. Summer 2024...bring it on! 🌞 Meater- don't let me down. I want to be saying "you can be my wingman any day" 🍖 Keep up the great content and channel, TY

@tomwadek I'm super excited to have received one yesterday, so I'll let you know in a few weeks time. Tip for anyone who purchases from outside of the meater website, get into a Meater support chat to challenge the Web page that says only products purchased via Meater website can be offered a warranty. There's a chance that they can verify the shop you bought it from (online or brick and mortar) as being legit, reputable and on their list. If its not on their list, they might choose to offer them the chance to be an official authorized seller. These things seemed to increase their willingness to support my product afterall and they registered my probe and device for me. Have a great weekend!

Which thermometer has the best alert system for when the meat reaches the designated temperature? That has been the biggest challenge for me is to find an app that is actually able to display some sort of alarm or alert if your phone is off. 18:58 Also a question on the typhus sync, does the base have an alarm built into it that goes off when it reaches the designated temperature?

Do you find that you achieve the Leindenfrost effect at similar temperatures on CS and SS? I've heard 379F is usual, but it seemed much higher (like, 480) in the footage for the CS pan. Also, what would you say are the benefits of heating the pan higher than the target cooking temperature and then lowering. Is it mostly so that you can use some kind of test to make sure it's heated and then adjust? It might be partially due to having an electric stove, but I find that heating high and lowering on CS and especially CI takes longer because of the heat retention. I've figured out through trial and error (largely by melting sugar, making popcorn, and maintaining deep fry temperatures) what setting on my stovetop gets me what heat. So, setting my stovetop to a touch above medium gets me to about 350F. Different pans will take varying amounts of time to reach that temperature, but they won't shoot above.

First timer here GREAT INFO!! 1 Question is the cleaning after cooking, 1 friend puts the pan under running water seconds after being on the flame, I was in disbelief. 1 friend puts water in the pan when the pan is cold to clean the pan, 1 friend lets the pan b cold then uses water n a bit of dawn soap to clean. I think #1 pan will warp, #2 not sure #3 with dawn I think takes the seasoned pan back to zero. Which is best?

Great job on the clean up. Since I also use the kettle as a smoker, I like to remove the vent wings in the bottom and bend them out just a little before reinstalling them. It is common for ash or a small piece of charcoal to get lodged underneath one of the wings of the sweeper which really messes with temperature control.

I have this product. I love it when it works. One of the probes will NOT hold a charge. 30 minutes max. The other probe is fine. Also, when I spray the meat with apple juice and ANY of the liquid gets on the end of the probe, they stop working. I have to pull them out, take them in the house, clean the probes and re-insert. By that time, the white probe is out of battery and, no matter how long it's on the charger, it'always shows low charge. I can only give it 3 stars for that reason. Do you know if the battery in the probe can be replaced???
