Well, it makes as much sense as still today record player are bought and used by some. The character in the film probaly bought the camera on ebay or something- and a phone has already been unsed like that in a horror short, just search for "Cam Closer" ^^

The Sun Dog's a novella from his book Four Past Midnight...a collection of King's "short" stories. Just letting you know so you can find it easily if still keen to read it. Excellent story👌🏻
