The UK had the coupe slightly later than Europe and by then it had lost the bulging wing (known as Cole bottle). It had a more direct line front to back and from that moment Europe had the same model.

let me assume that this is the cover of the brake disc, it looks like the sound of a spring inside the brake
@alexh193

It’s a drum brake setup in the rear. My thought was the brake shoes dragging and releasing when hot. As only when hot the noise is there as audible as this. But I adjusted them back and it still happens. So either must adjust further back or there’s more to it or a different cause. I also eliminated the wheel side cv joint as far as I could…

Don’t know where you’re from, but in Europe on the frog eye ford Scorpio this was the standard cosworth package. It’s known as the cosworth Bob with matching al4de gearbox. I just took this complete setup and retrofitted it to my Granada. The earlier Scorpio cosworth boa also had an automatic only that was less sophisticated and non electronic.

Hi Alex! I know some time has gone by but I wanted to compliment you on the Granada restomod. I am a keen Ford fan in The U.K. since the early 1970s, My dad was a keen Granada Ghia 3.0 Wagon owner and later, my mother had a silver Coupe same shape as yours. I hope you and the car are both keeping well!

Benzinepomp beetje moe? Is dit de reden dat je de laatste keer met panne viel?
@alexh193
@alexh193 Жыл бұрын

thanks for the video, I really liked it. You use a car as an everyday car, or a weekend car. does Kossi eat a lot of fuel? if you are going to participate somewhere, be sure to shoot, I think many owners of granada \ consul will be interested, as well as me.

Tja car drives like a modern car mostly. It’s a fast cruiser. It’s a hobby car so it gets taken to work or for drives on nice sunny days. It lives in its own garage the rest of the time. If the car is willing to not break down for a nice long while you’ll sure be seeing some more material of it. As for fuel, it can be reasonably economical it’s just that it is too much fun to make long pulls from slow/stand still. But generally cruising it does pretty good!

The plastic insulation used on the BOB engine and transmission looms are from a bad quality bio plastic and do start to fail and fall apart after +/-10 years. Its the same with the cam chain guides and chain, these are made from a lesser material then the BOA. Glad to see you still have the Granada.
@alexh193
@alexh193 Жыл бұрын
Yes, a well known issue. I took a gamble when I had to resort to a second engine as the first had an exhaust port stuck open. I opted to transplant the perfectly running engine with original engine/box loom thinking it would be a proof of concept solution. But as it kept working the permanent fix got postponed until the inevitable happened. She’s now back together after a year of on and off working on it retracing your original work and redoing it.

@@capriv8driver a small but serious enough meltdown in the loom to the Ecu. So started a mission to replace 175 wires from the Ecu back by finding new Ecu and connector pins and crimping new wires….

@@alexh193 I wish you told me. I know these 30 year old electrical parts are rare now but I still have a few spare EEC5 ECU connectors and other connectors. Leftovers from other conversions and savaging at the car breakers. The ecu can burn out as after 30 years the soldering dries out and the cap's blow creating a high resistance and then something has to give. Ford never intended that these parts were used for so long.

Great looking ride I had a 1970 boss 302 Mustang came with that grabber blue and some of your added touches look like my boss Mustang. I have never seen a coupe Granada the only coupe Granada hear in the US was the boxy overweight big bumper padded roof "thing" of the 1970's. This would have been a better choice for the Mercury's Capri.

Nice, I like that you did consider how things work in daily use as the mirrors you mentioned. Granada is one of my favorites too but I really want the Taunus 20 m coupe. Had one aged 18 in 1980 and I want one again and rebuild it with a touch of bringing up to date but without destroying the original look. This showed that with some thought in what you do it is possible.Must say your Granada is very good looking.
