I had a film society in 1975, 1976 and 1977. I used this Bolex S221 and it was simply a wonderful machine. Thank you for sharing your unit to all. Sincerely, Tom Pennock

If you know ANYTHING AT ALL about these machines which it seems you do, at least way more than me then i would really appreciate some help man! I want to use my Bolex to make cool cinematic videos!

I have a Paillard Bolex 18-5L super but it has a gun handle is this a camera or projector?? manuals say projector...confused

if it looks anything like the projector in my video, it is a projector. I am confused by the gun handle comment because cameras had the gun handle but not projectors.

Yeah its definitely the camera that you have. I just bought a whole editing/filming/projecting station second hand and what a steal it was.. But the one youre talking about is definitely the camera becuase i just got that myself!

Hello. I am curious if you have every used the devry model d 16mm projector? I recently purchased one from eBay but it did not contain the operating manual and it's not very intuitive for how to thread the film properly and the overall use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Late to the party here but my SSL did this due to different reasons…the flywheel wasn’t turning free enough to smooth the sound. I’m not sure what happened to mine in a previous life but a wire connector in the back was rubbing on the sound flywheel stopping it somewhat…I moved the wire and connector over and zip tied them and no more flutter/underwater sound.

It woud be better if you would please stop the continual panning, and to have at least one long static shot of the machine. BTW, I operated one of these machines nearly 60 years ago, though I never got to use the mag sound facility. Nice machine, the Bow Legs (as I once saw it called) ...

Sure. However, this is just quick clip that I embedded in my EBay listing when I sold it. Simply showing it works. If you view my other clips you will see similar vids of all the others I sold as I got rid of my collection.

I have one of these, I have been looking for a motor belt for it everywhere but no one has one so I have to use a rubber band to run it. Then I have to change the rubber band after it breaks down over time. I don't have the speakers but I don't have tape with sound anyways.

I have a Premier10 that I’m hoping I can play some 16mm on soon. There’s not a lot of good info out there about these. You’re video was helpful. Any chance you could do a video explaining the springs, specially for the bottom reel, and how to set up and rewind?

With my projector (same model) the silver roller which keeps tension on the drive belt is weakening. So the belt slips to the point nothing moves. I can push it into place with a screwdriver, then it works but only for a short time. Wish there was a way to fix this. There's obviously a problem with the spring attached to the roller that pushes it inward. Nice video, it's helpful to see the machine innards exposed like this.

I have one that was a Christmas present from my wife and daughter. Do you have any info on maintenance,? I did purchase a maintenance manual from eBay. Mine runs fine. Haven’t checked the amp out yet because of its age. Capacitors concern me. Does not seem to be laboring, no strange noises. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
