It’s crazy to think, he was up there for 3000 years already when Hannibal crossed the alps to attack Rome.

I actually had the chance to go see Otzi in his museum up in the Italian alps (Bolzano)! Very cool. And when I say see him, I mean you can literally see his mummified body through portholes into a climate controlled room where it is kept preserved. And you can see the artifacts they found with him, too. I've "seen" a couple Egyptian mummies in traveling exhibits at local museums, and can only say that Otzi's museum is a way more interesting experience. If you're ever in the area, I recommend checking it out!

And here I am considering PEZ candy one of the best tasting, especially the lemon ones. I don't bother putting them in the dispensers though, they don't last long enough.

Highly recommend The Pez Outlaw, a 2022 documentary about a guy who went to europe to get pez dispensers from the factory and then sold them to collectors. They had a lot of fun making the movie with their recreations of moments. Its a fave amongst me and my friends

You say meh, but me I love these candies far more than the dispensers.

Could they cool the beer. The beer looks icy cold in the movies but I assume beer was room temp back then.

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair goes into quite some detail of free lunch counters after 1900 in Chicago. There was an area by the stockyards called whiskey point, surrounded by another area called whiskey row, with many many saloons offering free lunch, but for the most part stocked by the lower quality meats from the stockyard. He says that like the ones you mention, you could get a 'good' meal for the price of a drink, but were usually compelled to get two drinks, otherwise the bartender would recognize you as a bad customer. The problem of only sticking with two drinks usually lay in a work buddy buying you a drink, to which you would have to return the favor.
