I think the fact that Kate Bush recited pi to the 78th digit then skipped to the 101st digit in this song doesn’t necessarily mean she’s somehow wrong or inaccurate. She’s an artist and this is _her_ song. I don’t think she was _trying_ to recite pi to the nth degree with absolute precision. She’s created a work of art like a painter, a poet, or a novelist does. I think she skipped the sequence in the number pi in the same way that a novelist will sometimes jump ahead to a different time period in the course of their novel, for creative, editorial, or stylistic reasons. Maybe say, to make it more poetic or maybe Kate has a deeper hidden reason for it. I don’t think the gap negatively affects the truth, beauty, or meaning of this touching creation and may actually add to it. Nobody would presume to tell Picasso how to paint or Hemingway how to write.

Perhaps, during the chorus, the other numbers were recited, but couldn't be heard?

That's one of the songs that probably dont resemble Bowie like the rest of his songs. Like most of his songs got that Bowie you know it is him when you listen to them but this one is just so much different and I think that's what I love about it

Call me sentimental, but when I go to heaven I wanna hear Ms. Bush sing the extended version... where she sing _every_ digit of pi

Beautiful. I wonder what Daniel Tammet would think of this song? Never mind. I just learned that the sweet, gentle, and sensitive Daniel was Kate’s inspiration for this song. He likes it. On March 14th 2004 in Oxford England, Pi Day in America, Daniel Tammet recited pi from memory to 22,514 digits. On March 14th, the day of Albert Einstein’s birth and Stephen Hawking’s death, he set a new European record for such a feat. It took him five hours and nine minutes. Multiple invigilators were in the room to verify his accuracy. He didn’t make a single mistake. Daniel is a very rare prodigious savant, gifted in mathematics and languages. He has a form of synaesthesia (“union of the senses”) which results in him perceiving numbers as colors, shapes, movements, and textures, all connecting to his emotions. He has written, _”…pi is for me an extremely beautiful and utterly unique thing. Like the Mona Lisa or a Mozart symphony, pi is its own reason for loving it.”_ He described his recalling of the number pi not as a long list of digits but as a reviewing, in his mind, of a poetically beautiful flowing landscape of shapes, colors, textures, motions, and emotions. Kate Bush also operates on a different level than most of us and she too creates beautiful landscapes in the mind, connecting to _our_ emotions. Genius recognizes genius.
