The timing of the editing is terrible! Compare it to the far better edited chase scenes in 'The French Connection' and in the later 'Live and Die in LA'

That old Bonneville was a tank. Even with all that front end body damage, the car drove like new. You can't do that with today's car's. With today's vehicles, you hit a plastic shopping cart 🛒 and you have 6 thousand dollars 💸 of body damage, fluid leaks all over the place, and you gotta call a tow sled. 😮

This movie was filmed in New York city. How come there are no hundreds of yellow taxis crowding the streets and why is the Lemans chase car the only car in New York city blowing the horn? New York taxis are the only ones in the city that blows their horns even when turning corners like using the turn signals. 😂

I love how the chase car driver hits the top of the hard steering wheel and the horn sounds. Since when is the horn button located on the rim of the steering wheel? Hollywood magic at its finest. 😂

IDK why this was recommended, but this is excellent! It's funny, if you know NYC and the routes that are shown, it's all mixed up. A few examples -- the shots of going over bumps heading downhill towards the West Side Hwy are repeated to drag it out, it wouldn't take that long. And how do you cross the GW Bridge westbound ... and end up on the Taconic Pkwy?! (Wrong side of the river.) Lol. Regardless, it's fantastic. As others have commented, no stupid background music, just sweet GM engine roar! And Bill Hickman. OMG, what a badass.

I'm not aware of this movie so I didn't know that this car chase existed. I've seen a lot of very famous car chases but I've never seen this one. This one's about on par with the Bullet chase scene. Btw, what city was this filmed in, New York City?

IIRC there was a documentary on the making of Seven Ups. When the pontiac slams into the semi it actually happened during the rehearsal. The stunt driver was testing the braking prior to the actual take. The car hit a slick spot and slid under the trailer. They kept and used that footage.

Sorry but this scene pales in comparison to the Steve McQeen Bullit chase scene… Everyone knows that by 1973 American cars were detuned pollution controlled pigs that couldn’t get out of their own way. Hell, this scene even ripped off some of the soundtrack from Bullit. I’d know the sound of that 390 Mustang anywhere.
