Can you share the list of paints?
@kevinmartin994027 күн бұрын
That’s one of the best videos I have seen on weathering. I am an O Scale modeler and have been reluctant to try this on a $600.00 Engine. This is going to. Be a saved video and rewatched while I catch all the paint names and colors. Thank you.

Excellent video, you forgot to mention that specific decoder for ESU you do not need resistors for LEDs, bur for other decoders and models you must use at least 1K resistor

What is the fascination with Rapido trains?s I think they are way overpriced for a piece of plastic. I'd much rather spend the same amount and get a nice brass locomotive that will still be here long after I'm gone. Then I don't do DCC as I hate the tinny sound of HO DCC. If I want loco sounds I'll just turn on the stereo and toot on my wooden whistles. Do you paint brass models for folks? Cheers from eastern TN

I don't know why they would use plastic handrails on an expensive loco. I hate the sound of HO DCC sound. It sounds so tinny. I'm strictly a DC guy. Atheran are the best models which I have besides the Atlas. I make my own rust for weathering. I take 2 rolls of 0000 steel wool and put it in a quart jar and fill it with white vinegar and set it in the window for a couple of months. Then I pour the mixture into a stainless steel 11X14 inch photo processing tray (any flat container will do) and wait for a couple of weeks for it to dry. I use a single edge razor blade and pulverize the "rust" into a fine powder for use as a weathering powder. It looks real 'cause it IS real rust. I usually heavily weather all my rolling stock and old engines. I've got three new Atlas engines I'm a little cautious about weathering, but I eventually will do it. Cheers from a 72 year old modeler from eastern TN

Good video as this popped in my feed. Always willing to learn another technique or how others did. One comment though, you didn't need to thin that paint. You are shooting Model Air, which is airbrush ready.

Nice job! At first I thought you were using tamiya for the panel lines, but ammo works good too. Not many people know about or use the oil dot fade, overall, it looks good.I'm guessing you had an issue with the ditch lights not working due to the pogo pins not making contact, otherwise, why did you put a kadee washer under the pad? Sounds good and looks good pulling a consist. Terry
@sonomacustommodels Жыл бұрын
Thanks. The panel liner is in fact made by Tamiya. The kadee washer was in there when I took the model apart. Perhaps they had issues at the factory.

What’s the best way to get custom decals made/make them yourself for models? Is there a software system that can be used, or do you get the decals from the customer?
@sonomacustommodels Жыл бұрын
I get my custom decals from Fusion Scale Graphics. I just submit the artwork in .png form. If the customer doesn't have graphic, I can generally design them.
