"The only sports car left with a soul" Miata: "Am I a joke to you?"

6:40 - It is worth mentioning to please get Winter Tires before enjoying your car at 10k ft in those conditions. The stock tires are not okay for that.

I've been snowboarding for over 20 years and therefore been driving in the snow for a long time. I almost died going up the mtn in my gen2 brz last winter. Even with good winter tires if you hit ice going up hill in this thing it is really dangerous.

Many thanks in advance from the UK

When it comes to modding a car, stick with the big 3: Wheels, coilovers, and exhaust. All change the car drastically, but able to revert back to stock easily if selling. You can make a very clean and nice looking build for under $4k
@ThatSubaruDude5 күн бұрын
Good points. Those arnt really under the hood either and an exhaust isn’t that bad to put back on.
@reganmian5 күн бұрын
Besides cosmetics, don't mode your daily driver. Mod the car that's used and have the pros do it. If you paid $10k for a BRZ with 100k miles then yeah you can spend $15k modding it and still have a car that's faster, more track oriented and cheaper than a new BRZ. If you're not a pro then have a pro do it.

I agree about the snow tires, but doing donuts in a parking lot barely moving is not drifting ! and yes its very easy to do with four wheel drive also. I run Nokians studded winter street tires on mine so I can move fast and do real snow drifting not going in circles at 5mph but its a great way to start learning, great video !

My son bought a 2022 GR86, red, beautiful car. He loved it but had to plus 1 the summer tires/wheels, then had to put Blizakks on the stock tires because he lives in West Michigan. Then gas prices started creeping up, especially premium. Then he started hearing about engines burning up and Toyota not covering the damages and, well, he sold it. I would have bought it but I own a Mustang GT and have already lived his life so, anyway, he bought a small Mazda SUV that's quite quick, 4WD and takes regular gas. He's likely done with pocket rockets.😉

Thank you about talking about the idiotic desperate click bait of the RTV issue. It genuinely caused harm to Subaru/Toyota trying to sell an affordable fun sports car just so people can feel special and complain. I have a few hundred laps of full throttle track time on my 2023 BRZ with heavy track mods. And I personally know first name basis about a dozen other people who have tracked theirs as much or more than mine and only one has had a failure, and that was someone on sticky tires with 0w20 OEM oil with no cooling mods.

You need to make sure to hold the Traction Control button for 5-10 seconds to turn off VSC. VSC will kick in (lock your wheels) and prevent you from sliding. Make sure traction control and VSC are both off.

I understand the argument and the points are totally valid. However, LIKE for Like tires and like for like vehicle size, an AWD car is going to be more capable in snow. I own a handful of cars one being the twins and another being my STI along with my wifes crosstrek and we always run winter tires on ALL of our cars. The STI is just more capable. The GR86 is fun and holds up well in the snow, but my STI PUSHES 2 feet of snow. I can stop in 2 feet of snow, spin around like a tank and just keep pushing it.

It's important that a car be able to go, stop, and turn. All wheel drive only helps with go, winter tires help with go, stop and turn. I bought an RX-8 in 2004 and I've been on snow tires each winter ever since.
