Wow. This 2000 has seen much work. Could not reason why water in transverse case. Aha! Shift lever exposed to falling rain. Rain follows lever and enters at lever base. Needs a weather boot!

I just finished both of my tractors. I works fabulously. Total cost for both was around 30 dollars. The only thing I did different was, after gluing I wrapped the assembly around a 4 inch piece of pipe instead of using clamps. For those folks who say it's easier to just buy one, good luck with that. As of May 2023, it's no longer available. Well done, Sir. Great solution 😎

Thank you! That's a great idea about the pipe.

Daddy got a ‘77 that was repossessed and sent back to Sears. He bought it in Rome, Ga in 1978. It was a 14/6. We mowed and hauled and rode that thing until Daddy got an ‘87 brand new. Man, we and the neighborhood kids learned to drive on that beast! Love the video..what I wouldn’t do to come and ride on one.😎

You did great with your work. I used to be in business for myself doing media blasting mostly automotive related. I would have been embarrassed to let a customer leave my shop with work that looks that bad. Now I am a wee bit obsessive about doing things the right way. But yuck that was a lousy job.

I never found out for sure...the carb was missing, so I assume something happened to the engine??? One bearing was seized is why it wouldn't move. After getting it going, reverse went out and I gave up on it and sold it...

For your next project look into using a love-joy coupler on hydraulic pump eliminating v belt and adjustment. If possible adapter plate off of shroud mounting bolts, one time alignment. Also maybe pipe instead of hydraulic hose for long and non articulating joints. It does get expensive, nice job, good luck

I just wonder how easy or hard it is to come across that transmission?? Part numbers??
@nonyadamnbusiness9887 Жыл бұрын
It's a Peerless 2300 series. Just about every garden tractor with a 4 speed built in the 60s and 70s had this transmission. Axles and axles housings varied.

What is the "material?"
@gardeningpreacher2 жыл бұрын
It's a brake lining material from McMaster-Carr - one inch wide. They sell it by the foot and I usually buy a couple feet at a time.

When those old hydraulic lines sit for a few years, or sometimes one, especially out in the weather they rot. When you run fluid through them again and get them hot they leak if you’re lucky - rupture if you’re not.

This is cool. When I built mine I simply collected and cut the metal. But I had to call on a friend to weld it for me. It is great that you can weld your ideas! I like the spindles you used. I used an old trailer axle (I had fun making a video of it).

I've got a mtd early 80s model 2055 and let me inform you of something even thow the blades on that good deck are old they can be sharpened with a angle grinder easily. I do it on all of my mowers. Don't change them just take them off sharpen them and put them back on. It work everytime.
