pss... you lost me in the older people can't learn as well as young. I learn better than younger folks. Why? Because I have a good working model of the world. It is super easy to relate a new thing to similar old thing I already know. sure.. we have more in our heads and retrieval can be longer, but so what.

I truly appreciate this video. I had a moment at work, and it hit me. I couldn't sleep because it brought me to my childhood. My issues with concentration and focus. I remember Whoopie Goldberg speaking on it and felt the need to look up videos. Thank you for explaining in a way that I had to understand and accept my reality. I am going to seek out help to deal with my issue.

When do you think this technology could be out? Is 5 years too early?
@ExceptionalIndividuals
@ExceptionalIndividuals 2 күн бұрын
Great question! The timeline for gene editing technology becoming widely available depends on regulatory approval, safety trials, and ethical considerations. Five years might be optimistic for widespread use, but significant advancements could emerge within that timeframe in research and specific medical applications. - Nat

How about treating Autistic employees with basic respect and dignity by their managers and coworkers. That would be a good start, which from my own limited experience has been an uphill struggle! A lot of company’s will ‘do the talk’ but ‘won’t walk the walk’ in practical real ways that trickle down in the organisation and so to me looks like virtue signalling. I’d rather they admit they want to make any autistic’s miserable at work and are not welcomed there. At least I would know where I stand!
@AdrianRif
@AdrianRif 12 күн бұрын
typo ‘autistic’s life’. Note I would rather deal with an upfront bigot, than a person that says one thing to show how virtuous they are, but does the opposite! But that seems to be the nature of politics these days.

You raise important points. Respect and dignity should be the baseline for everyone, including autistic employees. Companies must back up their words with meaningful action-policies, training, and accountability. Your frustration is valid, and pushing for genuine change is critical for creating truly inclusive workplaces. - Nat

It’s important to recognise that neurodivergent individuals bring diverse strengths to the workplace. While some tasks might take longer, their creativity, problem-solving, and attention to detail can greatly benefit teams. Inclusive workplaces thrive when they focus on strengths and provide the right support for all employees.

The man who invented the MRI envisioned people being able to get a full body scan once a year. When he came out with a new machine, the big companies would say what he was doing was impossible. They would buy his machine, reverse engineer it, and release a new one of their own. I've never seen one of his machines. His company is Fonar. He passed away in 2022 at 86. Others got the Nobel Prize. He acknowledges their work was important, but he is the creator.

Dyslexia and autism are distinct conditions, though they can overlap. Here’s a quick comparison: Dyslexia: A specific learning difficulty affecting reading, writing, and spelling. It's linked to how the brain processes language and often comes with strengths in creativity and problem-solving. Autism: A neurodevelopmental condition that impacts social communication, sensory processing, and behaviour patterns. It often involves focused interests, unique perspectives, and innovative thinking. Both are forms of neurodiversity, and individuals with either can thrive with the right understanding and support.

I have just been diagnosed, and still waiting for the detailed paperwork, but a question I keep being asked is 'but you do detailed artwork, how can that be?" I dont know how to answer. I am self-taught so its possible i hold my pens and brushes in an unusual way, and I mainly work on it in very short bursts, a few brush strokes or stitches at a time. Is this common?

Thank you for sharing! It’s a common misconception that being neurodivergent means struggling with all fine-motor tasks. Many neurodivergent people excel in creative fields due to unique ways of processing and focusing. Your self-taught techniques and working in short bursts show incredible adaptability and creativity-proof that being neurodivergent doesn’t limit talent, it often enhances it in unexpected ways.

I have dislexia ,I spelled it like that because that’s what it sounds like to me. Also when long comments are written it’s daunting. I’m 67-and know one I have it.

Thank you for sharing. Spelling things the way they sound makes perfect sense, especially with dyslexia-it’s how many people process language. Long comments can definitely feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. It’s great that you’re open about your experience-awareness helps create more understanding and support.

Thank you for sharing! Being taught early can make a big difference, but memory challenges and reading things that don’t interest you are common dyslexia experiences. It’s great that you recognize what works and what doesn’t-finding ways to stay engaged or break tasks into smaller parts can really help.

I think a reasonable accommodation for autisim to begin with his descent human kindness. My bosses don't know I am autistic and I am the only female lead person. I get treated terrible because I am a woman but I also have a neurodivergent mind. I am also older and they are discriminating against me by helping the men, but they don't give me support and make me do all the heavy work myself. I have been at my job 20 years and have always done a good job. I would appreciate being treated as well as they treat the men. I had to start counseling because of them and now on medication because I don't know how to cope with the bad treatment.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. No one should face discrimination, especially after years of dedicated work. It sounds like you’ve shown incredible strength despite unfair treatment. If you feel safe, consider reaching out to HR or an advocacy organisation that supports workplace equality. You deserve respect, support, and equal opportunities. Very best, Nat

@ExceptionalIndividuals
@ExceptionalIndividuals 22 күн бұрын
Yes, there are several resources available to help you set up a business and create a website: Business Support Services: Look into local business support organisations, such as the UK’s Prince's Trust, British Library Business & IP Centre, or Gov.uk Start-Up Support. Website Builders: Platforms like Wix, Squarespace, and WordPress offer user-friendly tools to create professional websites with minimal technical skills. Mentorship & Funding: Check out StartUp Loans UK, Kickstarter, or Crowdfunder for funding options and mentorship programs. Accessible Learning: Websites like Coursera, Skillshare, and KZbin have free and paid courses on website building and digital marketing. Let me know if you need more tailored recommendations! Very best, Nat
