Why not dump the grass clippings in the back to keep the Tree edging neat?
@lawnjenkins11 күн бұрын
I always spray molasses first on my flower beds then dump the last couple of lawn cuts debris, leaves and grass clippings, on my flower beds then I'll spray molasses on top of that. The high sugar content feeds beneficial microbes in the soil and helps break down the grass and leaves fairly quick. This way next spring my soil isn't nutrient deficient.

It's that time again! Will you be aerating and overseeding?
@lawnjenkins11 күн бұрын
Definitely considering aerating this year. But I will use the dethatcher once a twice more for sure. I generally over seed first of September and also first of march. Fall overseeding works better.

Just a question, why did you not attach it in between the rear two wheels? Most of the other videos I have seen indicate to remove the rear wheels drill a hole through the body. This lowers the centerof gravity. Again, just curious?
@lawnjenkins13 күн бұрын
I have/had the older version big league striper that you needed to remove the wheels. Theis one is the newer version for a 'quick' install and release. Great question....

What was the rate of each that you mixed?
@lawnjenkins13 күн бұрын
I mix 4 oz of ferrous sulfate and 4 oz ammonium sulfate per 1000 sq. ft. example - if you lawn is roughly the size of a tennis court that is 3,000 sq. ft. so that would be 12oz ferrous and 12 oz ammonium. If your lawn is the size of a basketball court that's roughly 5,000 sq. ft. so that would be 20 oz of ferrous and 20 oz of ammonium. I live in north east Ohio with cool season grass mostly Kentucky Blue.

I don’t care what your db meter says. My neighbor has a lawn company that uses leaf blowers and it sounds like a jet engine. It lasts a couple hours at a time. It’s very intrusive and disruptive for someone working from home.

Great video. I have the same pain in the butt right rear wheel adjusting issue. Must be common with Hondas.
@lawnjenkinsАй бұрын
Also, the Honda is so lightweight that if your lawn isn't extremely smooth, you will get uneven cuts and also, a full bag causes it to tip backwards. On the bright side though, the lightweight of it is good for maybe older folks or kids and it starts all the time and the deck won't rust out. 🤷🏽♂️

How much compost did it take to do your entire yard? I have ~9k sqft and plan on doing an over-seeding in the fall.
@lawnjenkins2 ай бұрын
So we have approximately the same sp ft. I used 3 yards of compost. But, you could get away with 2 yards. Word to the wise, make SURE you get it from a reputable supplier otherwise, you will have a more than usual amount of weed seeds.

Some people don't like quick connects. They say it slows their water pressure. I haven't noticed much of a difference and I have them on all hoses.

What's funny about this product is it has 'hygroscopic humectant compounds'. These are the same things that are in skin care and cosmetic products to retain moisture in your skin. Now that doesn't mean I would put it on my face but I thought it was funny when I was studying what those ingredients.

Gotta love clean, crisp edging! I just had to redo the edging for my backyard patio bed. I used the lawn edger and then a spade shovel to get excess out. Re-used the excess to patch other bare spots in the yard. After that, I went behind it with a straight square shovel to give it a cleaner look. Took me about the same amount of time but man does it look pretty.

I give a thumbs up to anyone who takes their time to help others with stuff like maintenance on their lawn equipment. And the ethanol in the gasoline is what ruins stuff like sparkplugs so fast. It attracts water out of the atmosphere.

Thats a lot of wok LJ, big salute! I use to rock naturals edges and then I installed a cement garden bed edge, laid down some tuffiom landscape fabric, preen and mulch and never looked back. Anytime I want to add something to the beds I just use my ryobi soldering iron to cut a hole and plant. No weeds and hardly no maintenance.
@lawnjenkins3 ай бұрын
I looked into the cement bed edging and here in Northeast Ohio I got prices of $10 to $15 a linear foot. So just that one side you see in the video would have been about $500. Also I have never had good luck with weed fabics. Grass will grow right through it nothing will grow through paper. I dedicate one day to edging and in about 3 hours I'm done with everything.
