Molly Ringwald later said it was the worst and most awkward thing she had ever done. She had been one of the four girls fired after the first season, and for her, having to come back on to the set and interact with the girls who were kept was humiliating. Oddly enough, the three other girls who were let go did make appearances in later episodes, and they did not seem to mind. At any rate, Molly got sweet revenge by going on to become a member of the big screen "Brat Pack".

Have the facts of life girls always been living in eastland with Mrs garett?
@nassauguy48 Жыл бұрын
This was the start of Mrs. Garrett's second year at Eastland. She started out as a housemother in one of the residence halls, then got promoted to being the school dietician. So she herself was relatively new to Eastland, having just left the Drummond household in Diff'rent Strokes.
@PioneerGrrrl Жыл бұрын
Mrs. Garrett came to Eastland after she decided she did not want to be a housekeeper. She apparently had a background in nursing. But she leaves at the beginning of the 8th season (two parter) Basically the 8th and the 9th season just kinda try to go on without her. It's not the same though. They should have just pulled it then.

Like so many of the cameo characters in FOL, the girl playing Margo (the mean one) was 20 years old when she played this role. Meanwhile, Molly Ringwald (whom, I guess, was playing her friend and possible roommate) was only 12 or 13 at the time. A lot of the "other students" in FOL were actually a good number of years older than the four stars of the show.
@Diostillrocks2 жыл бұрын
Molly was 12. Season 1 Molly would not have been friends with this girl and would have spoken up and not be mute.
@nassauguy48 Жыл бұрын
@@Diostillrocks Exactly, she was a firebrand. In actuality, as Molly Ringwald later admitted, she was not in the best frame of mind when she did this scene, having still been bitter about being fired from the show as a regular. After this episode, unlike the three other girls who had been fired, she never appeared on FOL again. The character of Tootie also really mellowed out after Season 2. She also became naive, sweet and timid.

@nassauguy482 күн бұрын
@@travisjames3517 And that is one thing I never understood. Molly attributed her being cut from the show to Nancy McKeon. The fact was that the four girls from Season 1 were fired BEFORE the decision was made to add a new character. Moreover, the characters of Cindy and Sue Ann were more similar to Jo than was Molly. Molly had been one of the younger girls, so if she wanted to blame anyone for being cut, it would be Natalie and Tootie, the two younger girls who were kept. (Though it was not their fault, either).

Now see, if there was any doubt that these two are a couple this should clear it up. Jo and Blair had instant chemistry right from the get go. From the first time Jo threatened another bigger tougher girl in her first appearance on Facts of Life where all 4 girls went to jail over Blair's watch, the seed of friendship + was planted. From then on if anyone messed with Blair, Jo was quick to defend her honor. On the rare occasion such as this that someone went after Jo, Blair was equally quick to come to her womens aid.
