I think she was afraid of love and commitment due to her mother giving her up and her abusive partner choices, but I think Jack is the ONLY ONE she ever loved and was ready to settle with. You can clearly see their chemistry from episode one. Sawyer was like her runaway life, fearless, wild, unexpected. But Jack was everything she was ever missing and was never ready for (remember she married the cop and couldn't live household life, but she actually settled with Jack and agreed to be his fiancee). Love them SO much. Love love Kate. Such a complex character yet always showing principles. She didn't mean no harm. She was just broken inside and hurting people around her was an aftermath, but she never meant it 😢❤

I think Sawyer was something to play with and gave her more attention. She was wrong to continue to sleeping with Sawyer because she thought Jack wanted Julia. Jack did not chase her as much as Sawyer but still showed interest and had a mystery about himself. Sawyer cared more about Kate than she did about him.
