Great questions, we purposely did larger, custom feed doors for this client (7 x 4") just for this reason. For common tasks like feeding fish, spot feeding coral (with a baster), water checking, getting a magnet cleaner in and out of the tank for feeding (link below), etc the feed doors work just fine to not have to take the lids off. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJmve4ymdpKrl9Esi=3v6BoqWQ2UWUgulZ Additionally, after this client used his lids for a few weeks, he decided to get 2 of our Food Regulator Cups, which greatly helps the food sink in the water column to get dispersed in the powerhead streams throughout this massive tank. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZnKp4KFeNajrKM For more involved maintenance tasks, this build worked out great for the lids coming off because... 1) It's a multi-piece lid, meaning 1 lid panel can be laid on another lid panel to have 1 entire tank opening available to access without taking the lids off the tank. 2) The center lid panel didn't have any equipment or cutouts, meaning either of the side lid panels can be placed on top of the center lid panel without interfering with any equipment. 3) If the client does want to take the lids off (for cleaning, for example), there are 2 canopy doors with a center brace, meaning each of the 3 lid panels are much smaller than the canopy door openings. Our screen is custom designed in order to have an opening size smaller than 1/4" to keep in even the smallest jumpers like gobies and firefish, while also having the smallest thread size possible to let through the most light. Top Lids Clear Screen blocks about 2% of light while our Black Screen blocks about 3-4% from our tests. All in all, this was a really fun and rewarding project.

We have a revised version of the UV, called "UV v2", that we just started testing the (hopefully) final prototype before release yesterday. The goal of this version is to have the color warrantied with the lid itself. Assuming all goes smoothly, we'll be posting launch details on our website and KZbin.

Sure, good question. Here's a breakdown below: Clear Screen Only = 2-3% Black Screen Only = 4-5% Evap Cover = 7% We were worried about this in the beginning (many lids we do are for heavy reef tanks where PAR is paramount). What we found is most tank owners have controllable LED's these days, which are far more powerful than their tank could handle at full blast. Most clients seem to run their lights between 30-50% intensity. So if they need, when they receive their Top Lids, we recommend to raise up the intensity ~2-3%, and the PAR output to the tank remains the same. Hope this helps.

Hey @otallono, thanks a lot for your comment. We do have some Top Fin lids on our website, and can do custom designs for any other versions. For custom created and professionally screened clear polycarbonate and 5 yr warrantied aquarium lids, there is currently no other comparable option that is cheaper than us. There are other lid options that are lower priced, but they are either solid (leading to excessive condensation and salt creep which blocks light and needs to be consistently cleaned), or are aluminum framed pieces that need to be measured, cut, assembled, and screened from scratch. We are planning to release an economy lid line that will be standardized with no custom options, and will be lower priced.
