I think it is always the same pack, but I'm never certain as I've not tried to identify them. In general they all look the same to me unless there was something special I can pick out. I have multiple cameras and they make their way out of the wash and through the desert behind me.

Don’t know if it’s fleas or could be mites? I see them scratching a lot. One coyote, I think it was this year, was scratching a lot and I could see it getting worse over time and start losing hair and eventually it was mange.

@@azdesertcritters It's hard to capture the catch. I have only seen it once and I thought someone shot the hawk because of the way it fell to the ground. Only to extend it wings at the last minute and catch a cottontail. I just stood there in awe!

For us as well, sometimes they are so loud we think they are on the other side of our wall, but the sound carries so well that they are 50-60 yards away. They could if they wanted to do this next to the windows of some bedrooms, but I don’t think that ever happened. I understand how it does sound scary as that’s how I felt in the early years at our house and especially when that is going on at night and we are out there with our dogs bedtime potty time.

Interesting thought. I don’t think it was a young coyote. What we can’t tell, since the clip ended, if it actually finished the job. I have a video of a bobcat playing with a mouse but when I’ve seen a coyote with a squirrel, it was chomp chomp right away.

They are round-tailed ground squirrels. Their face and body do look a little like a prairie dog with its young, but prairie dogs have stubby tails and get chubby when they are adults. Plus they are larger than these.
