It's a nice science trick, but I've got a faster way using the same material. Place the t-shirt (without sweat) over the glass and push down in the middle to sag it and form a bowl shape. Pour the dirty water into this bowl shape and it will filter quickly. The tighter the weave of the fabric, the smaller the particles it filters out, but the slower it filters through. Simple, effective, quick.

The quicker, the poorer the quality, considering not only dirt, but microorganisms and microscopic parasites, that often make they way through a fast filtration, slower ones prevents this

HAHAHAHA! The gimmicks companies try to sell to the regular Joe Schmo that goes camping less than 1 time every couple 2-3 years. $20 is way too stupid of a price for something so basic and simple. I mean anybody with half a brain that just woke up from a drunken stooper can make like 2-3x that amount themselves for a ¼ of that price. 200-300+ feet of jute twine for like $2-$3 and a pound of paraffin wax is like $3-$5 (depending on the store).

I know it’s been 5 years but I want to comment anyway. The TOPS Cub is an excellent knife for this type of kit. Always like to see TOPS knives in folks’ kits. 👍🏼👍🏼 And the Survivor filter is one of the best. It filters down to a better level than most. Good kit.

Back in 2016 i obtained this knife for about $20.... then, I carried it with me everywhere I went since since early 2017. Always in my back pocket, always the most reliable and low key knife I have experienced so far in my life. My bond with this knife was so strong. Then.. today on May 28th 2022... at some point as I was hiking, the. Taking pictures of the sky on the top of a parking garage.. at some point... this knife.. my knife. Vanished from the home of my back pocket. I ran and tore Back through the places I had just come from trying to find my knife. To no avail. My knife was lost and I have Z E R O clue where it is. It’s kind of strange but... it damn near feels like I lost a long time friend.
