Have rodents in rear retaining wall area. Been using bait boxes. I fill with fastrac/ tomcat / contrac ( luminating) . Doing this over 6 montgs. Only fastrac and tomcat get completely eaten but not contrac. These baits dont seem to be kncocking down activity. Advice ?
@TheAverageHomeowners19 күн бұрын
My opinion would be that if you leave the bait there, then you will keep drawing rodents from other areas. Same applies to fly traps, which I have a video coming on later this week. If you remove the bait once the initial rodents are caught it should be good, but if you leave it out then others will infiltrate the area.

Another quick fix for Mosquitoes and other insects at home, especially indoors, is to boil lemon grass for 5 minutes, sieve the water, and put it in a spray bottle. It works like magic when you spray it indoors. Natural and effective.

Doing a core aeration and hydretain application next growing season is gonna be a chore (hint hint wink wink). Have you also considered installing permanent LED lights around the house? We got Trimlight installed this year and we absolutely love them! Your house would be a great candidate. I'd recommend getting the 6" spacing instead of the 9" spacing if this is something you decide to get done at some point. I also think you get a discount if someone (like me 😉) is your referral, I'd have to check.
@TheAverageHomeowners25 күн бұрын
Yes, that would be an absolute chore, and I don’t know if next year‘s gonna be the year to do it or the year after but I’m gonna put down humid acid and probably use the hydretain. As for the lights, I will look into it, but unfortunately, in this neighborhood, we are highly restricted on outpouring lights

Omg why do people simply don’t mention how many Oz per thousand is recommended. You missed a great opportunity. Next time mention a simple application rate.
@TheAverageHomeownersАй бұрын
Because application rates vary based on the brand of spreader. If I said 3lbs per 1000sqft there is much more testing and math based on your product and spreader to reach that result. Thanks for the feedback and I will try and give a more precise measurement for what I apply to my yard with my spreader.

If you ever have the opportunity, take a look at the cap area to see whether mosquitoes are gathering. That's what the company says will happen. To my knowledge, nobody has ever seen a mosquito come near a Spartan Mosquito Pro Tech - not even the company itself has seen this, which is interesting. The tubes *appear* to be effective if there is something else (like BIFEN) doing the actual control. Usually it's just the town or municipality doing nighttime spraying. Anyway, these tubes are widely regarded as a scam, though I do understand that hundreds of thousands of people swear by them. You can google the class-action lawsuit against company for more information. Spartan Mosquito is paying out $3.6 million.

Curious, why wait 3 weeks to add an organic/slow release? As slow release can take two or more weeks to stimulate growth does't make sense to added use it a week or two after the quick release to get a continuous N? I get spacing out the iron to keep a steady green. But the point of slow release is a longer release of mostly nitrogen plus the K and P as well if they are included.
@TheAverageHomeowners3 ай бұрын
It would make sense to add it sooner if we were having more rain or steady rain and the fast release did not stay in the soil for so long. Here in SE Texas we have been very dry so no need to get the slow down sooner. If we start getting more regular rain then yes it would go down earlier but still not around 1 week. At some point you’re just throwing away $ on nitrogen so I space it out.

@@TheAverageHomeowners cool thanks. I know run off might be an issue but any recommendations on how long at time to do? For instance my heads says about .4 an hour. So it would take about 2.5 hours to get the full inch. Break it up in 30 mins or even more? I know soil adsorption would be a factor to.
@TheAverageHomeowners3 ай бұрын
Your system if its in ground may have an option for soak. If it does use this and it breaks up the watering cycle to allow for the ground to soak in the water before starting to run again. If not, set it up to run for 50% of the watering and then 50% on a second run. This will allow the soil time to soak in the water and avoid runoff.
