Most of what she says is ture, they will very possibly bite if startled. Also a once a week bath is needed, just dont use anything hars. You can however use a nin scented baby wash. My ratties love their bath time and act just like my Irish Wolfhound after, running all over and being so playful. I do this in the evening, because after they all settle down its time to be brushed (they love it) And like their toes being played with. Take care rattie livers❤

In the US, UK, and most major countries, ALL pine sold for animals is kiln-dried and completely safe. Other shavings, such as aspen and hemp, are also completely safe. Paper is not a suitable bedding type, as many studies have shown. It lacks ammonia absorption, which means that ammonia builds up in the cage extremely fast and can cause majority respiratory distress such as URI. Using some paper is okay, such as to nest with, but should not be your primary bedding type.

I've kept pet rats since 2007 and I've never heard of chocolate being toxic to them? Infact low sugar dark chocolate was often recommended for URIs. Rats can process theobromine in small amounts. A rat would need to eat 150 grams of chocolate to reach dangerous toxicity levels of theobromine. Honestly the sugar/fat in chocolate is probably worse for them.

Same with dogs. My little dog loves to wrestle and chew my hands. Sometimes she stops if she thinks she's gone too far or hurt me. I give her a slow blink, she'll relax again, give me a tiny, quick lick on the hand, then straight back to wrestling. So much communication is non verbal (well, all really).
