I have bought my partner this kit, what would you recommend buying for it, glue etc, I really have no clue. Thank you in advance

Hey! Awesome decision! :) - for body color I would go for Herman Redd from Mr. Hobby (laquer paint) - for interior - German Gray - for rims - some type of silver - black matt for windows borders - some masking tape, contacta clear glue from Revell for clear parts and Tamiya Cement glue for other parts Have fun! :)

I have this and am wondering what paint u used like what brand and shade of blue grey and white
@SmallScaleFun
@SmallScaleFun Ай бұрын
Hey! For blue - "Sky Blue", white is "Cool White" or gloss white, and gray is "Royal Light Gray" or XF-80. Blue and White are from Mr Hobby Laquer paints and gray is Tamiya acrylic paint. Also, sky blue from Tamiya x-14, white x-2 if you want just acrylic paints.

@@SmallScaleFun It really looks like glass too!
@SmallScaleFun
@SmallScaleFun Ай бұрын
That's why I like it so much because it looks like glass :) But you have to be careful if you want to use it because it reduces its volume in contact with UV light and this affects the decals or forms bubbles (especially when you apply a thick resin layer)

I built an Italeri SL300 Gullwing which I'm truly pleased about it, but I haven't got time to take some good pictures of it and therefore no "video". I have a bloody nightmare Nissan GTR on the table, but I came up hating it so there's not much of a progress with it. BUT: (there's always a "but") good things happening 🎉 I bought my 1st airbrush and air compressor and I'm trying to build a "diy spraybooth" which hopefully can help me work peacefully indoor. I'm the greatest rookie, probably there will be some major fails at the beginning 😊. I'll ask for your advices when time will come - if you don't mind. Other than this... lots of kits freshly bought in my closet. It has been an absolute pain this summer for me - too hot for anything, not a good time to paint and work on scalemodels. Maybe the autumn will be decent in terms of temperature. Good luck to your future projects and talk to you soon 👍🏻🍀
@SmallScaleFun
@SmallScaleFun Ай бұрын
Why you didn't pick the Tamiya Gullwing Sl 300? The heat is also killing me.:))) Also, have a "DIY spray booth" made from wood some cheap lights and a good fan. To protect the fan I use cooker hood filters that I change after each project. What airbrush did you bought?
@orlandofarcas5610
@orlandofarcas5610 Ай бұрын
I bought a decent chinese 0.3 nozzle airbrush (Haosheng HS-X302 the one with MAC valve) and an air compressor with a built-in 3 liter tank - I think it's Haosheng too. Also, an additional moisture filter for extra safety :). For the spray booth I have a large cardboard box, led lights, two cooler fans 12x12 cm and an engine air filter (not fully functional yet, but close to what is supposed to be). The Italeri Gullwing is great, trust me! I'll try to make a "video" just to show you what I managed to get out of it. Lots of add-ons, but the result is great 😊. At this moment I'm waiting my 2 weeks year holiday and when I'm back I'll try to catch up with you. Did I told you I hate the hot weather? ♨️🌞 absolutely hate it!

@SmallScaleFun

It's not so hard just use the instructions provided with the kit. The hard part are headlights. After you spray the varnish, you need to adjust them to fit in their spot. This kit comes without the colors, primer, and glue you need to have them :) But is a beautiful kit.

Do you use tamiya paint when brushing, if so do you use any paint retardant with the paint? Btw what brushes do you use? Thx
@SmallScaleFun
@SmallScaleFun Ай бұрын
Hey! When brushing, I use Tamiya acrylic paints in small bottles (10ml) with a Tamiya Paint Retarder for acrylics. I use paint retarders, especially on big parts to prevent paint from early dry and reduce the brushing effect. I use cheap brushes like Ammo or Italeri with - 2/0, 1, and 10/0 sizes for small parts. *if you have budget you can go for more expensive ones but for me is enough until I start painting miniature figures :) Hope it helps, Cheers!

Did you sand the body to remove the original clear coat? Was that so the brown paint sticks?
@SmallScaleFun
@SmallScaleFun Ай бұрын
Hey! For the clear coat, I use 3 or 4 layers, usually after the second layer I sand the varnish to have a better shine on the body. I sand the plastic kit so that the primer can stick to the plastic and sand the primer to smooth the surface and get a better grip for the paint on the primer. (before doing so the paint came off when masking the window frame for example). Hope that helps :)

Hey! For light colors, you need light primer like white. (If the color is red I use a pink primer to get a beautiful red) For yellow sometimes I use white primer + light yellow and after that spray the main yellow color. If you want to paint the car body with pink color my choice would be - gray primer (sand imperfections) - white primer and - pink paint :)
