Thank you for the overview. This game system seems flexible enough to try playing in different historical periods and settings.

Excellent review thank you. I did far less prep and played my first two campaign turns with some unpainted minis I never got around to finishing for Stargrave, and half a dozen wild west gunslingers, in a papercraft wild west town dressed with Gaslands' scatter terrain. The result wasn't as visually pleasing as yours but was more than satisfying enough, especially with the attachment I have already formed to some of my crew :D

Don't know if you check comments still, but in case you do: are you planning to come back at some point. I genuinely believe you're one of the best wargaming channels due to your focus on indie games.

I know this is a bit late, but I definitely enjoyed your review of GFF as someone who is now just getting into it myself. Regarding the general swinginess of GFF, have you ever figured out if the command point system from the full rulebook helps mitigate the swinginess of the experience?

I tried this yesterday, (along with a salt trial) but instead of brushing over the hairspray layer, I used an army painter rattle can. Bad idea. The paint adhered to the hairspray far too well and didn't just peel off easily. I had to scrape too hard, and in many areas, exposed back to the metal. I think if I'd used a standard acrylic like you showed it would have worked better. The salt technique also didn't work so well. In both cases, I used a food dehydrator to speed the drying process, and I think this baked the paint and salt too hard. I got good 'bubbles' over the salt, but again, just light scraping with water wouldn't dislodge the bumpy areas so easily and I had to scrape hard to get some of it off. So, for anyone else trying this, be patient and don't take short cuts like I did. Great video - my mistakes my own.

Great feedback! I've never tried this with a rattlecan, but an airbrush with acrylics or enamels definitely still works. Rattlecans tend to go on thick so that may be what made the salt unresponsive to moisture.

A shame there's no all-in-one fan ruleset document, still having to learn 6th edition and piecemeal it with a supplement is a bit of a bummer.
