I hadn't yet heard this song when I was a combat medic in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1990 till 1993. My wife would jump whenever the phone rang in late 1990/early 1991, ever expecting the call with the secret message, "Raging Bull" that would send me overseas. As a civilian, I was a nurse and a firefighter. My wife and I had met and married when I was a U.S. Air Force firefighter-EMT in the mid 1970s. We had experienced separation due to military duty before those days of Desert Shield and Desert Storm. As much as I wanted to go and use my skills of a medic and LPN, it was tempered by the anguish of possible separation. In the end, the ground war of Desert Storm was only 100 hours, and I never made it over there. In early 1993, I was injured as a firefighter, and from that year till now, I've had seven major surgeries, and a dozen other surgeries and procedures.
