Penelope told Marina that she has known Colin forever last episode, they are neighbors they live directly across from each other and she has known him since they were kids. Colin is one of her closest friends, of course she doesn’t want him to be trapped into a marriage with Marina without knowing the whole truth. That is why she keeps begging Marina to think of Colin, because she cares for him and his happiness. She didn’t try to meddle once when Colin was courting Marina ep1 before she knew Marina was with child, she even mentioned in Whistledown that Colin would be crowned victorious in the race to Marina’s heart. I hate when people undermine Penelope and Colin’s friendship and just make it out to be like she’s a jealous hater, like she doesn’t have reasoning to oppose this situation. Her loyalty should be with her closest friend that she has known for years, and not with the girl she just met a few months ago that is trying to screw him over.

I’m sorry but I had to stop watching this video after 3 minutes of you setting up the scene of going in to your reading. The reason whyI needed to stop is because I thought that you were all about putting emphasis on the expectation of suffering you were supposed to go through by reading this. This completely misses the point and beauty of “A Little Life” because is way more than just torture porn, people should stop reading it just because is painful or might make you cry. This book is beautifully written, the composition of the narrative is exquisite, the characters are developed amazingly, the scene, the stage, the literary elements at play, they are composed in a way that not many other authors can. The themes although a huge part of the overall book is just but one aspect, but people seem to have a fixation on just the emotional aspect. So I hope u had a good journey, don’t leave “A Little Life” behind, is a book that should stay with you forever. Is not something you read and then toss it away, that is not what genuine reading is about.

I could not agree more with this review! As somebody who not only has or known people that have experienced what Jude has gone threw I find it unbelievable unfair when people call it trauma porn or say no one person can go through all that, or why did it need to be that graphic… it’s almost in a way minimizing what other people go though. I just read the book for the first time a few days ago and already want to annotate it I also already know that it is my FAVORITE BOOK and that I will be one of those people to read it at least twice a year now… I already want to read it again but I literally JUST finished it lol. Since reading it I have been watching a lot of these vlogs with people reading a little life and one of the last ones that I saw the girl said that she didn’t think that ANYONE who had suffered some of those things would actually write anything like that or want to write anything like that. While I get why there are people that hate this book (as she said that she did) and I would agree that this book is NOT for everyone and I would have a hard time recommending it to people, I do think just saying it should have been written or why would you is maybe missing the point of the story. To me it’s about life, friendship, hardship and knowing who to trust and who to love. Jude (even with all the difficulties) does want to try and have a life and live it. Like the fact that when he decides to give a relationship with Caleb a try (even if it was disastrous) that and then him an Willems eventual relationship I think proves that he wants to try… even if he doesn’t think that he deserves it. I also totally agree that this is NOT “the best gay novel” and I would never pitch it to someone like that. Are there two men that have a relationship with each other… yes. Has the mane character ever slept with a woman and has only ever been with men… yes but not by choice… except for once with Willem. Which i feel is happenstance. But neither character considers themselves gay. Jude doesn’t know what he identifies as (all he knows is that he doesn’t like sex for good reason). And as for Willem dose he mind that the longest relationship he has ever been in is with a man, no but he can’t bring himself to say the word gay. Clearly he doesn’t mind or care what other people think to some degree but, I do think apart of it is a Savior’s complex. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing but it is a part of it… at least for me. I even watched an interview with Hanya who said that she doesn’t consider Willem as gay… but he does truly love Jude he is just not 100% sure how. I think this is just a testament to love is love is love. Thank you for this video and have a great day! Oh side note I almost spit my coffee out when you said you were gonna watch Bridgeton because at the time I am writing this comment Luke Thompson who plays Benedict Bridgeton is currently playin Willem in the West End version of this show. Anyway have a good one.

This was the moment Daphne lost me. She committed sexual assault on her husband, and forced him to do something he was clearly unwilling to do. It doesn't matter if he COULD have given her children if he wanted kids, he clearly DOESN'T and in NO was he unclear about the fact that a future with him would NOT include children, so... her crying and pretending to be a victim just falls flat for me. I love a lot of things about this show, but that one scene definitely ruined her character and me shipping them together. The idea that you only have the right to not have kids if you can't physically have them is disgusting, and I wish they hadn't gone that route. There is nothing cute, sexy, clever or fun about women who tricks men into getting them pregnant against their will, and I wish more people would show some outrage at that than I see during reaction videos as it seems to be far too easily ignored and glossed over by most people. Hopefully it helps create some awareness about the issue as it gets pointed out though, in which case that is definitely a good thing!

Well, when you first watch this episode, most people just don't see it that way. Not saying that's a good thing, but it's pretty obvious why people don't. In society, women are seen as victims, and men as predators, so when the role is reversed, nobody thinks much of it, as we are programmed to believe the woman is the victim no matter what. It's not that people are monsters and think it's okay for a man to get r worded, but it's simply that the entire notion of a man being r worded seems impossible, due to social programming.

Thats what the issue was he kinda took advantage of the fact that she didn't know anything about sex and was using the pull out method to avoid having kids. And telling her that he couldn't have them instead of saying he was choosing not to have them
