A very nice demonstration of the topic! Nevertheless I find it still quite disturbing how complicated this masking matter is in Affinity Photo - the whole thing had been so easy and straightforward in Photoshop but in Affinity it's all so convoluted and you constantly have to think around various corners to get the desired result. At least this applies to me even after several years of using the Affinity apps...

Hey a shy question, is it possible to create a few macros for this effect please that would be very kind, so i can use that for my Workflow on the Ipad Affinity version

Thanks for your comment. Check out the updated description with a link to the macros. Have a great day!

I purchased Vector Styler as well, but honestly, I haven't used it as much as I anticipated. Affinity apps are simply better designed and more reliable. Constantly switching between Affinity Designer and Vector Styler has become frustrating, only to access certain effects and features that Affinity Designer lacks. As a result, Vector Styler now sits unused in my application folder, and I haven't even bothered to upgrade to the latest version. Developers should focus on enhancing the user interface and overall user experience, as the current design isn't polished enough for practical use in the real world. This tool is incredibly powerful, and if I had never had the opportunity to experience Affinity apps, I would wholeheartedly recommend Vectorstyler to anyone.

I own VS and find it very powerful even if not so mature yet. It is a very complicated program , maybe too much. But the developer is working hard to make it even more efficient answering to the users requests too. Very good!
@Graphicalfinity4 күн бұрын
The developer is a superhero! He fixes issues quite fast and is releasing updates very frequently. VS is indeed very powerful and has a lot of features, but i think the biggest challenge for new users especially coming from AP/PS is the logic how things are setup, but as mentioned in the video.. it is a great potential is definitely worth investing. You need to use the best tool for the job and sometime VS will be that tool :)

I think you need to make sure snapping is turned on.. use the magnet icon in the toolbar or use the Snapping.. from the View menu to turn and set the snapping options. Hope this helps.

Hi! Ctrl+8 is not 227%. It's for actual size (i.e. the printed size according to document's pixels and ppi resolution), which just happens to be 227% in this case. Very useful indeed.
@Graphicalfinity17 күн бұрын
Thank you! I thought there should be a good reason why it was 227 :)
@iamvano17 күн бұрын
Also you need your monitor EDID data to be installed in your system (nothing fancy. Your monitor's driver should do that) for ctrl+8 to work correctly. I have learnt it the hard way.

extending images is surely light work? Why the heck do I need a big graphics card??? I'm disappointed. I have an integrated graphics card and extending an image should be a simple task for AI. It is okay if it will work, but just take longer than usual, is that the case?
@Graphicalfinity16 күн бұрын
I think it will work, but will take indeed much longer to generate. The "heavy" graphics card is due to the models being large i think.. even though you need to generate a small piece (like extending), the model still needs to be loaded and processed.. but i am no expert on this matter :)

I think that you covered all the ways to use the zoom tool. Personaly, I always use the zoom pinch gesture on my trackpad which is the fastest and simplest way to zoom in and out in my opinion. I love your tip about the new view to open a new tab. Using the tab shortcut is a great way to work on details without zooming in and out all the time. Thank you for another awesome tutorial... You are the best! 🙌🔥

Thank you for sharing! Personally when working on a laptop, the trackpad is also my favorite for zooming :)

I saw that this video was over six minutes long and I'm thinking to myself, how can a video about the simple and straight forward 'Zoom tool' be stretched out to over six minutes? So I I figured that there must be more to the zoom tool that meets that -- So I have to watch it now & Learn some things! Lol

I don't get along with the Affinity UI at all. I'm old-school Corel Draw from v 1.0. Affinity's natural family will increase their user base by implementing an effective AI active help system. It really isn't hard. Did this in the early 1990's for quite a few programs..

Thank you.. I thought about making a video about it, but noticed it got already a lot of attention. As I kind of anticipated, i am guessing the Canva team has had some influence and hopefully Affinity will be able to get more tools to catch up with the competition.
