This brought me to tears! Those poor people in that raft, some hanging on the side, IN the water! OMG! The outright cruelty shown by some toward these desperate people is just appalling! People who call themselves Christian but do not abide by Matthew 25 may be in for a shock on Judgment Day. At the very least, we in the United States must recognize that what goes around comes around. If WE are ever in this position-and it IS possible-do WE want to be treated with cruelty or with hatred and disdain?! And asylum IS LEGAL!! To seek safe refuge in another country is a recognized legal act under international law. Each country then decides how to go about processing their cases but they did NOT arrive ILLEGALLY!!

I disagree as a Hindu the law of Karma encourages the sinner its never to late to mend it dosent shut the gates of despair gulit and hope grief it encourages us to adopt a charitable view towards the sinner for men are often weak than vicious. Christianity theology of Jesus dying on the cross dosent seem to do this it tends to encourage sin and bad actions

Catching up with church after my kids are in bed is one of the best things about online services. Thanks to everyone for this, especially Brian whose message I loved. Reminds me of how the feminist movement set out to do leadership totally differently to the hierarchical structures in the world. They saw leadership as a set of functions to be shared, not a thing that resides inside certain special individuals. They made the often invisible functions (morale and process type roles usually done by women in the background) visible and gave them equal status to the more glamorous goal oriented ones normally occupied by men. They were ultimately trying to resist the abuse of power that happens when leadership becomes more about elevating yourself than serving each other. X

Thanks for this. I couldn't tune in on Christmas Day because of going out for a family walk but am enjoying catching up a day late! Love and solidarity to everyone especially Sarah and Mike on the loss of the beautiful Daphne.

This is my first visit to your church. Tom’s talk has really opened my eyes to what Jesus was really teaching. I do a job in which it is easy to right people off as lost and to lack empathy with them. I will now try and always look for the light in people. Thank you Amen
