I wear Keen Targhee IIIs which have the same outsole, same thing happens to those where tread chunks get torn off, Keen doesnt use the best glue on their Targhee shoes.

Congrats on your accomplishment. I have long felt too many have a digital pov, where it is all or nothing. Like when a football team makes it to the Superbowl but loses... they are seen as a loser and less is made of the fact that they freaking made it to the Superbowl. Just getting on the trail and starting is a huge ass thing. Then doing 900 miles. That is something to be proud of.

It was so great to meet both of you on trail! I just got home to Florida to get some medical issues that came upon trail checked out and to go on a family cruise. The plan is to go back in September (likely) to finish the last 220 miles. I totally get your happiness and sad intersection. Mahoosuc Notch for me was terrifying going through it alone and in pouring rain and I had to be mentally put back together. 😢 On the plus side, there was little to no rain my last 4 days of hiking which made all the difference. Congratulations on your 900+ miles and your decision. I hope you both are doing great. 😊, Twister

We will MISS YOU BOTH. What you accomplished is something to be so proud of. The timing of this video is interesting to us, because we set out to follow you because you were doing the same flip flop we planned for next year. We just finished a shakedown in PA and realized thru hiking is not for us. Once we decided to do section and day hikes instead (because we still love the AT), it was so liberating and made the end of our shakedown so much more enjoyable. We hope to see more videos in the future and wish you both a lifetime of happiness together and many more successes.

I hate seeing the joy gone from your eyes. Personally, I hope to look at times like this like childbirth. The pain won’t last forever and there will be a reward at the end. Just keep pushing through. This is an exceptional season with rain in New England and anyone still pushing through is an exceptional person (including you two). Don’t quit. New England won’t last forever. The South is coming and hopefully it will be much better.

I feel so bad Rooster isn’t comfortable in his clothing. Like hiking isn’t hard enough! Two questions: How long is your mayo keeping (mayo could be the thing that gets me through😋)? How did you learn about or figure out the strategy to stay at the hostels, shuttles and slack packing? We see hostels and shuttles in our guide, but not slack packing. We have not used Far Out much yet. Sure hoping by the time you read this the Presidentials are in your rear view!
@thewearywayfinder
@thewearywayfinder Жыл бұрын
Mayo in the pack keeps pretty much always. Hostels are so chaotic you often figure it out upon arrival or call ahead of time. Also depends on how in the bubble you are if you even have to reserve. Slacks we did with hostels but there are shuttle drivers in far out comments that will do slacks I think.

@@thewearywayfinder thanks! In a previous video, you tried vegan mayo in a bottle, which is what I use due to an egg intolerance. How long did that keep for you, if you don’t mind me asking?

@honeybeeme0510 Ah! We used it for about five days but I think it had a few more depending on weather. Between two people if you are generous with portions you probably won't waste much. Ymmv based on temp outside

I hope Rooster gets that pack weight down somewhat. I think 16 miles is a great pace! We are always hearing about people having to get off trail for pushing too hard. By the way, Dumbledore made a hard choice, but he was not evil!!🧐🙃

It makes more sense to do the videos by miles. We get confused with some of those who do by days because some people count their zeros and some don’t. We understand you may not get videos out regularly, however, we sure enjoy them and watch them as soon as possible when they do come out. We could never have the self restraint to wait and binge watch!😄

We each have a bear vault 500. They've been pretty good. You may also be able to get away with the BV475 depending on how much you pack out. Sometimes if we do a 5 day pack out (or buy something bougie) we have to carry one days worth outside. We also have a spare bag for the bear box for aggressive bear territory.

We get such a kick out of your humorous outlook. We plan to flip flop next year and we watch a lot of thru hikers. Nobody ever showed us that ATC registration book and no one ever suggested tenting at a hostile as a good option for couples. That makes such good sense for us because we, like you, enjoy just hanging out together and having the option to go inside if we choose. I also think you are staying healthier outside by yourselves. Thank you! We would love to follow you in our guide once in awhile, so any time you can give us your mile marker that is good. Happy “passing 300”!🥳

It can be tough on the trail so staying positive is a must. Sadly as we enter NY and beyond, cheap hostels are now rare. We had to recently rinse our hair in a stream but I didn't get it on cam cause of mosquitoes lol. We're trying to come up with good locations/options for laundry and showers ahead that don't involve transporting cold water 200 feet from the source. Happy trails!
