I was too young to celebrate this victory. I do remember watching the game with my pops. I want so bad to have a feeling like this where this city is alive with energy because the Bears are doing something special. It hurts to watch this team. I’m not a delusional fan. I KNEW exactly this ‘24 season was going to play out the way it did. Sad I come to clips like this to feel better about something that happened once 40 years ago. Shame on the organization for not putting out a quality product that the city can be proud of. I refuse to watch another Bears game again until they start making changes to the team and put something out there worth watching.

What A 1980 Bears Team They Were Cheated In The Playoff Game With The 1980 Philadelphia Eagles When The Refs Called Back Payton's 98 Yd Run From The 2 yard Line Claiming Brian Baschegnel Had Clipped . They Would Have Beat That Team By Using Willie McClendon In That Game As Harper Was Out Willie Was Gayle Sayers Out There Plus Ricky Watts Was Pass Interfered With All Game By Eagles Defense Backs And No Calls But Those 1980 Bears Were Too Good With Backups 😂😢

Remember watching this game, freshman year in college, just a great time in life. This win was part of a 9-2 start to the season. Then just minutes away from beating Miami on a cold and raw day at Soldier Field and going to 10-2, a bad snap on a punt led to a tying Dolphin touchdown, Butler missing a long field goal at the end of regulation and the Dolphins winning in overtime. Then Harbaugh (who I liked as a QB) just self destructs on Thanksgiving and the Bears lose to the Lions. Then came the Monday Night disaster in the season finale at San Francisco, instead of division champions, the Bears are a wild card team and then they lose to an emerging Dallas club in Soldier Field. This game was one of the last (if not the last) high points of the Ditka era. A once promising season came crashing down just like that.

This was shown live in the UK, very good game on a lovely grass field. Think the bengals should've won, esiason was a much better QB than the bear's had.

I'm silver and black all the way,but the bears were best of defenses...raiders were defending champions that year, but fizzled down the stretch with careless play and age..

Typical Bears football… hard hitting, low scoring and stressful as hell to us fans. 1991 was a fun season despite falling short.

Does anyone know or remember the bar at 2642 w 63rd st? I guess that would’ve been 63rd and about maplewood. My mom aunts and uncles used to frequent a bar near there called the 6511 club but that was 65th and Kedzie so not too far away.

If no#9 stayed healthy , who knows how many SB they would have won. 84,85,86, he missed so many games.
Veteran Stadium was a crud palace. Broke Philadelphia couldn't muster anything better. I went there in January 1990 for the playoff game between the Redskins and Eagles, which the Redskins won 20-6. It was unreal seeing that seamed playing surface with my own two eyes.

Thanks for dubbing in the radio broadcast. I remember those from WBBM-AM, they were better than the TV announcers. While watching the games, my friend's dad would turn down the TV volume and listen to the radio. I was at this game, but as a young kid, and I had no idea that he had set the record that day. It was one of those extremely cold windy days and the balls kept blowing off the tee at kickoffs. So not surprising that rushing would have been a key component of the game.

People talk about how the Owners and the NFL itself doesn’t really care about players safety. Maybe. Back then, unquestionably true. The NFL/Philadelphia Eagles should be ashamed of themselves for letting any games allowed on that field. To have a player not only sever one kneecap, but to have both kneecaps severed on the same play, turns my stomach.
